Citizens of China’s southern city of Guilin were understandably flabbergasted at China Telecom’s unique approach to repairing a broken telephone pole – using tape.
More optimistic Chinese have been wondering about redoubtable sturdiness of the tape used and where they can get some (although in fairness, some sturdy wire also seems to have been used).

"It's a bit windy today. Oh Noooo-(crash)"
They are waiting for the pole to explode before replacing it; then they don't have to put effort in to remove it since it will take care of itself.
Now that's some China quality repair
The glorious power of tape.
Tapes.
The Most Important invention of Humanity.
Stop Invasion of Termites from Mars with one roll.
Tape is the only thing known to man to accomplish an unbelievable feat nobody thought possible. It makes girls shut up.
Spidergags are much more effective and practical.
Ballgags are also much more effective, and look better.

I see what you did there...
Not only it stops Termites.. it can be used to:
- Shut people up.
- Join broken things together.
- censoring tape.
- creative (if sticky) pranks.
- glue an object to the surface if you have no glue.
- create a barrier (sticky one)
and etc. There's too much for me to write down here.
You forgot dating!
@18:06 To save face during dating?
That's some amazing tape, the company who made should use this as an advert.
If it still breaks, you haven't used enough tape
God damn it...now I miss Mythbusters again.

Super tape!
Red Green approves
Laughable chinese worksmanship and quality control. Are people over there that stupid to allow officials to get away with this? Any other decent place heads would be rolling.
Someday Duct tape will save the world!
Duct tape seems stronger than wood....oh wait. Tape is apparently made in China too...
i can't believe this actually holds together...
fucking chinese and their demonic tape-magic
Wow I need to get my hands on some of em tapes!
Looks legit.
I'm pretty sure this is china's space program.
The bottom pole will explode, launching the rocket into the air. The tape will explode later, working as the 2nd stage propellant. Finally, the top pole will explode, rendering the whole thing useless.
I love you.
i lol'd hard
You make my day lol
emergency repairs? yeah, that's acceptable. They'll probably replace it at the next scheduled maintenance cycle
FOR SCIENCE!!!
Telecom repair is staffed by Chinese MacGuyvers. You should see them repair their power transformers with toothpicks and bubblegum.
lol the tape is loose, so it's not what's holding it up.
Simple tape solves everything
That pole is made of concrete! There's a reason wooden telephone poles are used; they provide flexibility as well as being strong. That silly thing was just poorly made, and became brittle under stress.
At the very least, if it was going to work it needs a rebar, which of course is also missing from the picture. Pathetic repair job aside, the engineering from the start was doomed to failure. They have no clue what they are doing.
There seems to be some rusty piece of wires inside. Not quite rebar, but that was there. Not sure what caused it to fall. May be hit by a truck or something.
There is nothing wrong with concrete poles if they are designed and built correctly. Rebar should be used to provide tension to the concrete.
I wouldn't want to use wood for that in China. The poor sob might decide to chop it up for firewood.
Those wires are rebars. They continue inside each broken end. You're not really expected to find 15M's in there, if that's what you're looking for. 5M or 10M at best if anything... they will naturally try to save money on whatever they can.
Nor do you, apparently. Concrete power poles are quite common worldwide.
Reinforced concrete is FAR stronger in stress (tensile, compressive, bending, shear) than wood.
My bet here, is that the concrete and rebar used was never up to chinese standards (pathetic as they are) in the first place. The maker skimped out.
Though the proper and modern way of doing this would be to have all these wires underground: safer and more stable. And better for property values / asthetics.
I honestly think that this is an emergency repair so that people won't have to miss Telecom services(and likely other services benefiting from Chinese Telecom's wires) until they can replace the pole.
They would not have put the Chinese Telecom tape around it if it were considered a permanent solution. No one likes having their name branded on shoddy workmanship.
In fact, I applaud their ingenuity to bring the Chinese Telecom services back up as fast as possible while a more permanent solution is on its way.
I've seen this kind of temporary repair a few times...in a few places. This is just to secure the pole until they can get a new one in place.
Sorry...nothing to see here.
Chinks...lowering world standards with china quality and disease since beginning of their 3rd place civilization prehistory.
LMAO!!!
Cleverness? Laziness? or Stupidity?
LOl, how about China quality!
Duct Tape is the solution to almost every problem.
It's a fact of life.
If ya can't fix it, duct tape it. lol.
If that doesn't work....Then you're not using enough duct tape!
IF everything still falls apart after using the entire roll of duct tape.. well.. f*ck this s*hit and buy a new one. lol.
Dick gets cut off. Tape it back with duck tape.
It's duct tape, you dick.
Duct tape the duct tape! Universe implodes.
Its made concrete which I am surprise they made out of which seems kind of hard to repair.
If you can't fix it, fuck it.
Or rather, if you can't duck it, fuck it.
Or use duct tape.
If women don't find you handsome, they'll at least find you handy.
+1 for double connotations
Hey, at least the pole or tape didn't explode. Someone's making progress.
Correction: didn't explode yet. Stress the 'yet'.
It already exploded once! How else did the pole break in the first place?
