Stabber Murders Nitroplus Man

Nitroplus’s music producer has had the incredible misfortune to have been stabbed to death in a random knife attack on the streets of Osaka.
The killer, a 36-year-old unemployed man of no fixed abode, attacked a woman in her sixties and a man in his forties on the street at 1PM in central Osaka.
Both victims were stabbed repeatedly and died shortly after being taken to hospital. The killer was arrested at the scene on charges of attempted murder, shortly to be elevated to murder.
Nobody else was injured in the attacks, though witnesses reported he appeared intent on further attacks.
The identity of his female victim is not yet known, but his male victim was 42-year-old Shingo Minamino, confirmed by visual novel producer Nitroplus as being in charge of scoring their various games and anime productions under the auspices of his employer Georide.
According to police, the killer claimed to have selected his victims at random and “wanted to commit suicide so I bought a kitchen knife nearby, but it was no good so instead I thought I’d kill some people and get the death penalty.”

For all I know, he could've faked a bank robbery and threatened the police with a weapon or SOMETHING. In the US that's easy just charge some cops with something remotely resembling a gun.
You don't have to charge them and they don't even have to see something that looks like a gun. Its always shot first ask questions later.
I thought US police was equipped with the not immediately lethal Tasser guns now.
US cops will respond with up to one level higher of force than what's being used against them.
Tasers aren't a guarantee the guy will go down.
If you use, or try to use lethal force against a US cop, expect the cop to use lethal force against you.

I don't know for America, but Im quite sure that they have Tasers AND a normal gun. That's how french cops are equiped though.
And yeah, some people can be more resistant to Tasers than others.

Statistically it is still the safest the news just likes to make things look like an epidemic.
A good example is what US news did with terrorism a few years ago even though you are more likely to die from insect stings,traffic accidents,falling down stairs, or even being shot on accident by a cop.

But to be fair, and I must express that I am speaking purely based on statistics, those rates are only high amongst black people. The incidents amongst whites and asians living in America are significantly lower (even hispanic rates aren't near as high). Honestly, if you based it by race in each country, America would probably have one of the lowest incidents rates in the world for the other races.

A stabbing here in Glasgow (Scotland) is pretty much expected. If you visit and dont leave without at least one knife wound you're doing something wrong.

If he were in America, he could have taken a hostage, waited for the SWAT team to show up, released the hostage, and charged the cops with his knife. He'd get his wish and be killed quickly -- it's called "death by cop".

Cops call it "Suicide by Cop" and really get P.O'd by it.
Even the cop that can take the guy screaming at them for 1/2 hour and even with the laws today don't go "Rodney" on them really are pissed when someone suicides by them.
Unlike actual maniacs, these people usually haven't hurt anyone. They will do stuff like take a kindergarten hostage but then sit there and not hurt/molest a single kid, then when the police arrive politely explain what they intend to do and then stand there holding a later found to be unloaded gun at a kid's head making a countdown so the cop can't delay/"reason" with him. Then when they are blown away they usually have family/friends, etc who come out of the woodwork and sue and because there isn't a pile of bodies, etc. they have to do a TON of paperwork and get attacked by lawyers in court. They even showed the kid the gun beforehand, showing it was unloaded and the cop can tell by the kid it isn't loaded but if he doesn't shoot and say it was the "unloaded" gun, he's gone from any police work so...
I called that number, but was put on hold......
The difficult part seem to be to actually "do it". With a death penalty you don't have to do it yourself, as somebody else is making that "decision" for you.
Maybe the government should start allowing "suicides" at some hospital-like places.

There can never be 100% safe in anything. The reason this becomes news is because this is one of the ONLY crimes committed in Japan, as compared to other 3rd world countries where most crimes are not reported anymore since they've become too common in everyday life.

Well,the problem lies within the possibility that you can buy those knifes easily everywhere and can hide them inside your pockets/clothes/etc. and stab people. The same goes for axes and hammers that can murder people if used correctly.
You can't protect your folks out there even if you ban tools from being sold because they can still beat people to death, and if they flip and their victims are relatively weak, you can't prevent those crimes.
Well,it's still better to be in Japan with much less violent felonies than anywhere else where people are crazy (other safe countries are Swiss and Canada) like Germany (it's mainly those Turkish/Russian/ South-east-Europeans that do most of the violent felonies here[except child rape]).
It's mainly because :
1. our mentality sucks
2. we are too capitalistic
3. we left our morals and dignity behind after the war( decay through the liberalism in the politics)
4.we have uncontrolled immigration
5. our laws are way too slack
It would be way better to exterminate everyone who dares to destroy the peaceful society than extorting money from the society through having tons of examinations, trials, and having to pay for their inhabitation in prison.
The only way to stop this is to give people proper education about morality and dignity and to exchange our law system for one that knows only 2 kinds of fixed penalties :
death penalty (for those mentally ill canibalists,rapers,abusers and mass murderers) and labor camps for everyone else who dares to violate the law as he pleases.
That's the only way how our societies nowadays can be freed from those who plague them due to the disability of our law-system to effectively counter it without putting an even greater financial(costs of the trials) and mental(through the exposure in the media) burden onto our societies in the end!
I hate when people blame Capitalism for problems. That's like saying "Communism is why China has hardly any human rights." No, the economic idea's of a country are not to blame. Socialism didn't bring down the USSR. Socialism isn't the cause for North Korea to be so backwards. The people who don't say anything and the leaders who know they can just push people over without resistance, are the reasons why. Yugoslavia was Socialist and did damn good. Here in America, you mention socialist and you are instantly shunned (unless you are certain parts of Occupy Wallstreet). Not only that, but capitalism is getting the same rap. It's not the system, it's the people who abuse the power and the people who don't stand up for their own rights.
As for the other points you made, it's Germany, so I can't really say much as I'm not that familiar with your nation. I agree that the nations mentality is key to the well being of a country.
And for the death camps or labor camps, that's absurd. I'm not sure with Germany, but here in America we've legally killed plenty of innocent people with capital punishment. Plus, there are thousands that are declared innocent years after they served their prison time. Extremes are not the solution.
I think the problem lies in the crazy person using the knife, not in the knife itself.
Also simply executing people for extreme crimes is not going to happen because there are always people who (as rumblingsauce said) are proved innocent years after their incarceration.

If you ask me the people that say things like that are the ones that need to disappear. Ignorance in any form is the cause of many problems and made even worse when ignorant people come into power.
If people knew of this guys problems and helped him improve his life he wouldn't have done something like this. When people suffer and they feel they have no power over anything that happens to them, they will turn to actions such as his.
