I already have a pile of japnovels I never managed to finish, I don't think I have ever managed to finish a jap novel, I tried to read yukikaze got halfway through before giving up on this boredomfest, Ico I got maybe as far as 30 pages done, All You Need is Kill was absolutely HORRENDOUS, dropped it at after 80 pages, well you get the drift.
I am more unto a Conan, Game of Thrones, Blodsarvet, Svavelvinter and such, you know this kind of stuff. If the japos decide to release Claymore or Vinland Saga (unliekly) in Novel form I'll probably buy it.

Maybe the Breath-taking animations! A lot of these scenes are so stunning that they've been leaving me speechless.

I gave the first episode of Hyouka an honest try and walked away feeling bored of it. The background art is absolutely gorgeous though.
But as for story? Some sort of plot?? I'm not seeing it. I can't even get into the characters. O_o If I watch this episode, will KyoAni make me a believer?
The actual "plot" shouldn't get introduced until next episode.

You pay no attention to small detail. For most animation studios, yes it would have ended up a slideshow with blinking mouths, flashing back from face to face.
KyoAni is meticulous as all fuck. Facial expressions change ever so slightly, eyes narrow, widen, hands move around and gesture, heads tilt, angles change.
Which is why people watch KyoAni shows about nothing as opposed to other studios.
Meticulous means shit if there is no substance.
Just take the worst 3 shows of the winter season and, just to ignite things up, Kojika, and assume that Kyo did it instead BUT the storyline remains exactly the same. Would the supportors of said studio still consider them "Great" or "The Best"?
And there is no such answer as "KyoAni would not do those types of shows".

It has more in common with Kami-sama no Memo-cho in set-up. Although, that tended to be more of a mystery of the week show, whereas this one will be dealing with one singular big mystery.
