Lovers of guns, action and pale maidens have been celebrating the debut of Jormungand, which in its first episode seems to have accrued a respectable following and a certain amount of acclaim, as well as possibly the highest number of rounds fired this season, though it likely still faces some competition for bodycount.

I can't think of anyone who doesn't like guns.
I can't think of anyone who doesn't like guns.
Devil May Cry's Vergil would like to say hello.
Anime that is full of guns and shooting? I am not much of a gun fanatic. But still, I love guns and I will watch this.
It's universal. Deep down we all want to shoot things & see other people shoot things.
i prefer swords... but guns are nice too
Indiana Jones has a rebuttal for you.
Darth Vader has a counter rebuttal for you.
Users of demolitions devices prefer to blow things up than use guns.

Swords in a gunfight? Ridiculous!

Fights in a gunsword? Preposterous!
Guns in a gunfight? Blasphemous!
Guns in a swordfight? Outrageous!
Guns in a Lightsaber fight? OBJECTION!
I prefer Curved swords, CURVED swords
swords? guns? I beat you all with my gunblade! RAWR!
"they realy existed at the renaissance..."
Yeahok bud.
damn I was about to mention gunblades as well.... btw they realy existed at the renaissance.... not a lot of them tho... Gunaxe as well...
That feel when they start calling out gun models and your nipples harden.
Who in the gun world talks about guns and equipment like that? Have you *ever* heard anyone say, "Mil Mi-24D, also known as the Hind-D"? Who the hell says "FGM-148 Javelin"? These are *experts*, they shouldn't be using long form names. It's a Hind D. It's a Javelin.
Also, what the hell kind of military uses a Javelin from a moving Humvee against a civilian car?
Gun porn shows: Not for people who actually know guns.
It's called "being considerate to your fans".
i think they put out the full name so other non-military otaku know wtf they are talking about..
Japanese doesn't how actual experts refer to gun's term, so it was to be expected.
Also, that is why it is called fiction.
My company commander said that exact phrase when he gave the company OPORD last week for our FTX. "Mi-24D, also known as the Hind-D"
the characters feel lifeless. Good more or less so far, but far from catching many military otaku's attention. Battleharden does not mean boring or lifeless...
they don't know anything about light armor piercing bullets though...
Kinda reminds me a little of Black Lagoon, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
What strange characer design...
"Let's not make anyone too attractive or they won't take the show seriously."
Funny, because I've always thought Koko Hekmatyar is a really attractive character, but she's so much fun that sometimes it's hard to take her seriously. Oh, and this is the same way she looks in the Manga.
So I guess people didn't took Madoka, Evangelion and Code Geass and many other titles seriously then...
I love it. I especially like Koko, she's very cute with a hard edge look about her.
The kid is Ishbalan
dat evil look
god, i love it already, and i haven't even watched the first episode.
this is gonna be fun
its interesting and there were accurate refferences to hardware. But not as pumped up or as bloody as watching Black Lagoon.
Its still early - so we can only hope it gets better.
If only Warhammer 40k caught on in Japan, and Games-Workshop commissioned an Anime to be made...
It would be the greatest thing... ever...
*Sheds Single Manly Tear*
I would go chaos to see an adaption of the inquisition or the Death Korps of Krieg....
Sadly I doubt we could get anything more out of them than a show regarding the tau....but what manga-ka could really capture the grit and grim?
The Tau? It would be an hentai about the dark eldar raping *everything* they came across.
So uhm... Why is it named after Midgårdsormen/Jörmungandr?
i'll be watching how accuratly they draw weapons.... last time i see accurate guns was probably cannan...
Hekmatyar? W'Allah somebody has a dark sense of humour
This and Upotte! are really trying to fill in that Black Lagoon/Gunslinger Girl slot; i'm diggin it
Finally! a war theme anime. been a long while since... also this reminded me of Black Lagoon. Thank you Japan!
Oh, hello Griffith.
When did you reincarnate?
:D
Guns? Anime? I'm in :)

I was a bit disappointed in this show, probably because my expectations were too high, i was thinking think would be something like early days of Balalaika from Black Lagoon
It looks very interesting, but these days I don't really handle anime well that are obviously gonna have some heart-rending drama and depressing deaths. :/
Seems like "emotionally engaging" these days always has to mean the main character and/or half the cast dies at the end.
You can be (somewhat) relieved then. Without being too spoilerific (still, read on at own risk): as of volume 10 out of 11 of the manga (11 still not scanlated), only one character from the main cast dies, but this character's death isn't exactly heart-rending (though plenty heroic). There is one side character death relatively early on that was quite heart-rending at least to me, but so far that's been it.
The manga did a very good job setting death flags that in the end didn't result in the characters' death, which has the effect of both giving you that impending doom I-don't-wanna-see-this-happening feeling, while also letting you experience the pleasure of relief when the character(s) manage to survive or get saved somehow. It never feels like deus-ex-machina or in some other way contrived, so no worries about that either.
That actually sounds pretty good, I might just try this out then. Thanks a lot!
Then you should stick to watching shows like K-ON.
...riiiiight. Because every anime is either emotionally crushing, or K-on. lol
