In example, if the hero is already badass and is kicking more ass then the show will become boring fast. I'm still neutral about watching this anime and it will depend on the character development and also the story of the anime itself.

there are good anime out there with strong male leads. True all anime has character development but good anime can have badass characters in it from the start.
Kore wa Zombie has a strong ale character who could use 100% of his zombie powers from episode 1 and the story is still good.
and for the women as well. Fate/Stay has a powerful female lead who could use all of her powers from the beginning and the anime is still going strong.
I hate doormat male leads because their character development is so obvious that its meaningless to watch.
