Zombie moe anime Sankarea’s combination of excessively cute girls and lengths of dangling intestine has been reasonably well received – despite being unsparingly criticised for being everything from a late victim of the zombie boom to a guro-necrophilia anime clad in moe visuals.
Mitsuru Hattori, the author of the original manga, has also been attracting attention for his rather extreme artistic development over the years:

Now I need to rewatch Umisho. That's what led me to the Sankarea manga (and Concerto).
I am following the same path.
I kind of like the old Umisho artstyle better too. At least it was way more unique. Now it looks cleaner and more evolved, but it doesn't look as unique.
The art for the anime isn't bad, but I prefer the look of the manga.
The anime style IS based upon the manga.

the manga was sort of entertaining but it freaked me out how the dad went from creepy pedophile to loving but bumbling father figure in like one issue and i stopped reading
oh i guess spoiler alert whoops
Her father was the reason she died in the first place.
She is on the side of a hill looking for a poisonous flower. Her father shows up telling her he's worried about her and for her to come home. He starts to grab her hand, she suddenly flinches back, losing her balance and falling about 100 feet to her eventual death.
Surprisingly, she survives (but has a huge gash on her stomach from being partly impaled om a tree branch)
I know, but a few chapters after she dies he kidnaps her and brings her back (still creepy) and then after a short confrontation he allows her to stay with what's his name and goes off to find something to stabilize her condition. I guess what I am saying is that the characterization does not seem to be stable at all when there even is any

I've seen some Yuri one-shots by the mangaka.
I dont want to romance zombies, I want to shoot them with a shotgun!! (And no, its not an euphemism).
It may not be an euphemism but it sure is symbolic and evidence of deepseated issues. I wonder what Freud would have thought about this.
If Sigmund Freud was holding a shotgun and being attacked by zombies, I seriously doubt that he would stop to psychoanalyze the symbolism. He'd shoot the fuckers.

damn, do I love this manga (and as sickening as it sounds, the titular heroine gives one damn good reason to feel like being a necrophile). Though, I am a little worried about how the adaption might go, since there aren't too many chapters. However, being a monthly serialization, the chapters tend to be quite long, plus....

Another thing that kinda draws me to take a peek on this show is that the main heroine is voiced by Yui's loli cousin (or was she her cousin?) from Yuruyuri.
The art is somehow shafted, but i like it.
Because the directory used to work with Shinbo at Shaft.

Manga is not even a quarter forward on story, at best 11 eps then wait a year for another 11 eps.
