Medaka Box’s pantsu, action and gag filled first episode has attracted a great deal of attention from anime fans – much of it bad or ambivalent, although unusual comments to the effect that the anime “is made for screen caps” and “has no jiggle so you might as well just save the pics” at least bode well for anime sites:
Alarmingly, a number of viewers have even criticised what pantsu and service elements there are as being “not really sexy at all,” which might be something an action anime could get away with were there not also similar complaints about the quality of the action…

The manga is a nonsense mess, wouldn’t surprise me if the anime was bad too.
I've not read the manga but the first episode didn't really grab me, its not bad as such i just wasn't drawn to it as it didn't seem to be doing anything original to me :(

Well first 10-20 episodes WILL be boring. Good part begins much later. Wasnt fan of it at first 30-40 chapters of manga, but then it became good manga.
Exactly. Medaka was downright unreadable for a while, but once it gets to the ending half (assuming Medaka Box HAS ended) it's pretty epic and made me want to go back over the parts I glossed over.
Don't know if the anime will last that long though.
This last part was really well done. Heartwarming, even.
Medaka box is actually a really strange story. This might be a bit spoilerish but your not suppose to like her. Just listen to your gut feelings when you watch. It seems bad because your trying to make it a normal anime/manga...it's not

Indeed Medaka starts like a sexy Haruhi Suzumiya (not that THAT isn't sexy) immediately turns into a panty fighter like ikkitousen, and then starts getting werider and weirder.
Just wait until you meet the "minus", their entire modus operandi is insane yet oddly consistent so much that the way to defeat them largely consists on finding a way to let them win in a way they dislike. And I'm not even going to comment on the "not equals".
The critical point is, however. That as much as MedakaBox is the typical Shounen Fighter, it is also a parody of the genre. Actually it's a metaparody of the genre.
@ALAKTORN No, the Manga is great and I'm sure the Anime will turn out good, since Gainax is doing the adaptation.

Gainax is no longer relevant since most of it's soul has left last year.

well medaka isn't supposed to be sexy, i mean the feeling you get from the manga is that she is indeed hot but not that sexy, i remember one episode when she cosplayed as a maid but it didn't fit her at all... so i dont see why they are complaining
I don't get why these types of anime HAVE to have breast the size of melons that look like the plastic surgeon actually took melons and stuffed them in there. It's not the least bit attractive if they don't look real.

FUN FACT: In anime and real life, you can tell that the breasts are being squeezed to look larger if they are touching each other like this. And example would be the Chinese movie: Curse of the Golden Flower in which all the asian women look very well endowed due to their breast squeezing corsets...this being Sankaku, you could almost say their breasts look like they would explode out of their clothes at any moment.

Specialty of Medaka Box is that it has a lot of non sexy pantyshots. Luckily they dont ruin story at all in comparison to what happens in other mangas.
Of course there's really not much of a story to ruin...
Unfortunately, it's the story that ruins Medaka Box. Series started out okay... but with each story arc passing, the more retarded it got. Should have kept the supernatural bullshit toned down to an acceptable level.

On account of the fact of Gainax made PSG (they did right) I shall go ahead and give this one a watch.
They did in fact make PSG.
And just like PSG, and Eva, and FLCL, and pretty much everything else they've ever made, the last episode is gonna leave fans scratching their heads, wondering just what the hell happened.
Too bad you ain't seeing any of those anymore since Imaishi has already left for Studio Trigger.
Medaka Box is a miserable pile of mediocre generic slice of life until Kumagawa is introduced to save it.
I just hope the anime lasts long enough to get that far.
This is not accurate, because even before Kumagawa showed up the manga had turned from slice of life to action.
The anime is said to have 45 episodes so it would seem that it would make it thru the Council Battle.
