Sadly, that would make a much better storyline than 99% of anime these days.
One otaku on a quest to obtain 1000 CDs. Standing between him and his destination are: long queues, muggers, inventory management, tsunamis, nuclear aftermaths and the most dreaded of them all: other otaku.

There really are a lot of animes with deep stories and good characters, but they never make it on any 'Top 10' list that you see. The most popular shows seem to be the blandest, which says something about the viewers.
I can understand your reaction, since I can't stand most of these popular show either, but there are plenty series that are worth it. A great place to start is Noitamina's programming block and from there out it isn't so difficult to find even bigger gems.

- A fatass main character, great story, great romance (Kuroyukihime ftw). Let's see how they blend these together.

- What's else to say? The manga's great, and now its time to see whether the anime can deliver the same blow. Can't wait to see how they voice out Kumagawa lol.

Accel World episodes 1 na d2 are already out and subbed. Pretty good story. Like a cross between the Matrix and Tron.

you know what, i dont even know what all the hype to the fate series is all about, cause to me it seems overrated. i actually watched FSN to about ep 17 just because it had high ratings. i forced myself to watch the eps just to see if i can get into the hype that this anime got but i couldnt. what got me through the eps was pretty much just wanting to see more Saber, but even that couldnt get me to continue watching, cause basically the storyline was boring to me. No im not some akb0048 fan, i aint even into that kinda music. ive only known who they are about a week ago while i was searching through this seasons animes.
Please, go play the game before judging FSN, anime was pure shit, movie was good but shit anyway (they totally destroyed one of the best plot ever!). The VN is far better, complete and awesome in every level. The hype for FSN anime was because of the game, but that hype soon died as soon as the episode reached 10 and the only ones who have been hyped were someones that hasn't played the game and liked the anime anyway...
