yup 2 handed swords normally are, can`t figure out why the hand guards are soo frickin long, unless its for people with freakishly large hands...
Wonder if the blade is polished that way or whether it has a true `hacking` blade attached.
Need loads of stamina to keep that baby in motion past a couple of swings ;p
If it was made out of steel
The length of the grip is just to get better leverage, control and power. Try picking up a broom or something similar, hold it with both ends together at one end, and swing it around at bit. Then move one hand up a bit, and swing it around again. Next imagine doing the same if the broom was three to four times as heavy.
A sword that long with a stubby handle won't work. You'll find yourself gripping the blade.
There's only so far you can extend handles to address long blade design, use a counterweight.
Kishida-san's drawing skills are as good as gold.
