Far from lamenting the loss of Kishida Mel‘s famously cute character designs, Atelier fans are hailing Hidari‘s designs for the newly announced Atelier Ayesha as being on an entirely new level of beauty and cuteness, to say nothing of the superb graphics now unveiled.
Other details unveiled include the fact heroine Ayesha Altugle is voiced by Marina Inoue and her imouto Nio by Mariya Ise.

Love the looks.
Though it could do with a good healthy dose of anti-aliasing.
You mean healthy dose of no pantsu!
I see what you did there.
Anti-aliasing on a 6 year old hardware? While they're trying to push the game on at least 720p? You're one console generation too early.
But it's funny... as a child, I won't be caught dead holding this kind of girly looking game. Now that I'm grown up, I don't care if I'm queueing at the counter with 2 hot chicks and a little boy able to see it in my hands in plain sight.
Is that due to growing up or giving up?
Well, since women respond well to confidence, I guess if she ever mentioned it wondering why you'd have that game, you can look at her with a completely straight, honest, confident face and just say "Because it's Rorona, bitch! Da hell you doing out of the kitchen!? SAMMICH! NOW!"
...
That didn't come out how I intended...
Not sure.
Back when we were still together, my ex checked on my gaming collection and saw Atelier Rorona on the shelf without saying a word. I'll never know if she was only trying hard to ignore it, or she was afraid that I'd call out on her shounen ai shit.
anon 21:04
pffft please....anon
You tard you don't know what your talking about and you don't have an ex...you lying faggot..NAO
GTFO!!
That's called leveling up
Come on, old designs were better. It's okay now, but it used to be magical.
You said it. The old designs definitely had more style. These look really plain to me.
I disagree.
While Mel's designs were good. These are also very good. I'd say they are equal.
I agree that they both have their charm; both styles have a very soft and nice style, they both work great with Atelier :)
Why are you limiting 'old' to Kishida Mel?
Atelier series run way back.
I'd say Kishida Mel's design strayed a bit from the classic Atelier look, not that I dislike it since I've liked his art for a long time.
Rather, they aren't flamboyant. Which is exactly what Atelier designs should NOT be, especially since it's a series that prides itself in being a typical NPC's tale, yet the protagonists look nothing like everyone else in design or clothing, to the point it's retarded.
This, on the other hand, looks like older Atelier games, much to the euphoric cheers of older fans.
While I dislike Atelier Rorona and Meruru for changing the course of the series' general image, I don't hate them as games.
Maybe it's because I started late. Ahh... Memories of 2005, and Wendee Lee trying to pass herself as a teenager with Lita... lol
That's pretty much the idea, or was before the Arland series. The character designs of games that take pride in being a typical NPC's tale shouldn't be more at home at Final Faggotry: Underage Panty Quest XVIII than they should be in Victorian Fantasy: A Little Girl's Life.
For better or worse, they got more retarded as the Arland series went on (they weren't bad at all in Rorona, outside its cutesy pastel flavor that wasn't present in previous Atelier games), especially to the dismay of older fans. I'd incite you to take a look at older Atelier games and the character designs of each (ignore Marie, though, her dancer-like clothing is just silly) and you'll see this is more in line with the spirit of the series than Kishida's work. And I couldn't be more happy with it, here's hoping Gust also goes back to their roots in storyline, characters and themes, but keeps the highly refined gameplay from Meruru (or, even better, iron it even more).
Damn i have a fetish for high-heel sandals like that. Good ole fap material
Marina Inoue? This game is becoming more and more promising.
The sweet smell of Lily flower is so strong in this one too... <3
missing 2d graphics ;(
So cute <3
looks good but generic. Prefer the old though
Watching with the goggles on.
I think I'm gonna buy this. From what I see here the game looks quite beautiful.
I have spend my banks for this.
This must be delivered to my home on time
Ayesha? Sounds like a black girls name lol.
yeah... no.
Rorona still wins cutest.
I am lamenting Kishida Mel's exit from the Atelier series. Feels like a lingering magic has vanished.
Environments look better, but would look much better if they had shadows. Maybe they just wanted the characters to stand out more.
more reason for me to get a ps3
does her facial expression ever change? :/ it's kinda freaking me out
Wow, Ayesha is a real cutie!
I can easily see why Ayesha was the prophet Mohammed's (PBUH) favourite child bride. ;-)
Enough with this “cutest”, “cuter”, “cuterly” faggotery!
Pre-ordering the denizens of translation to work before the fact...
The lack of secondary character is starting to scare me ...
hope they'll be announced soon .
Need more brighter colors like the Arland series or is it to fit the sad emotional mood of the protagonist. Nonetheless, it's pretty =D
It does seem like a dark setting.
DUDE it looks fkkn amazing.
Got Meruru Preordered for my "grand finale" set and I cant wait for this one either, bring it on to the USA! :D
Cute?
It almost seems like uncanny valley to me!
What the hell it looks like something that EA or some western made... Totori will forever be the best....
This has to be one of the dumbest comparisons I've ever heard. This looks nothing like the trash from EA.
The faces are flat. What a failure!
I noticed that too... Reminds me of the flat faces from Atelier Rorona which was an instant turn-off for me. Good thing they at least improved it in Totori and Meruru, but it looks like they're starting from scratch again with the weird looking 3D flat face character designs =/
The faces are great. You're the only failure here!
Hopefully they'll give the girls more than one expression.
looks nice but all those "atelier" chars look the same. Boring. They never do something new or different. Those character concepts (in animes, too) are like mass production. No deep, fixed on special role models.
"Let's make an anime. Hmmm, the characters. There has to be a male protagonist, a teen. And there are girls. One is a tsundere, one the typical boring girl from his childhood who acts like an older sister/his mother. Then there's a little bit naive but cute girl. His friend who has a little bit too much energy. A sophisticated girl, maybe a crazy yandere... I have such good ideas, I'm so creative!! Fuck Yeah!"
You have no fucking clue what you are talking about!
If you think about it he's right in a way... Maybe more the Type B Otaku stuff then the Type A but especially the moe stuff is like this.
@21:43 No, the guy really has no fucking clue what he's talking about. And "Moe" is something you can't label, because it's personal.
Kawaii. Of course there won't be an English release right? Oh, also, first!
All the other Atelier games had English release, no reason for this one to stay in Japan.
And by "all" you mean - "less than half", of course, right ?
nope he means ALL CONSOLE Atelier SINCE PS2 TITLE are always released in the west complete with original japanese voice, only one or two psp remake did not make it to the west, CONSOLE Atelier are almost surely localized here!
Atelier Viorate (PS2)
i just found two: the atelier iris.
where can i find more TOT
Still wrong. Go wiki Atelier series, or something.
Probably not. Even if there were, the dubs would ruin it.
Also, you're a faggot for caring if you're first or not.
"Even if there were, the dubs would ruin it."
You know, every Atelier game to date has had the option for japanese voice acting, to the delight of you and many weeaboos.
Heck, the usual publisher in NA for these games had to make a decision between the japanese voice acting or english voice acting for the DS release of Atelier Annie, as the cartridge couldn't hold both, and they went for the former.
