It's because the game was released in fucking 2006..
Sadly the western eroge market does stuff like this that they can get super cheap and easily instead of trying to get the rights to something good like Rance or games from Eushully...
Try convincing Alicesoft to like the western market cuz atm alicesoft no like western market that's why we don't have something good like rance.
To be fair you can give Rance game some of the best conquest gameplay known to the PC gaming world, but it's just not going to get positive exposure when you literally run around the country raping every woman you come across.
That and VNs are just hands down easier to translate than extensive VN-with-battle-systems.
Indeed, why can't they pick something more decent as translation project?? Meh...

It's because too many people wanted to play without buying it. If everyone who had played the first game actually bought it, there may have been a better shot of getting it. Hell they didn't even release the official voice patch yet.

This looks like crap. Sorry, but Mangagamer amazes me for translating some really shitty games instead of going for hits.
They don't necessarily chose the games they get to translate. They discuss the rights and whatever with the companies, and they only get to translate the games if the Japanese agree.
Looks like Key, Type-Moon, Giga and all the other big companies are not too hot about the English market.

@06:46 I've never played/read anything by Type-Moon that was poorly written. I don't blame them for not wanting to release their Eroge in North America. Especially considering how all of the idiots in the media reacted to Rapeplay. And it wasn't just FOX News going nuts with there tabloid bullshit, there were plenty of other News sites throwing a fit over it.
then release the pg console versions of the titles that already exist in japan? The media cant say anything about that. I doubt they would make much of the original fate stay night version regardless so the media card really isnt a good one my friend.
the main issue is that, while the english market is there, it has yet to find all that much success. The original japanese titles sell for 100 bucks and in localization here they get 30 max. If they go higher theyll hardly sell. The original creators naturally dont want their product to be dragged down that far in price. The market here is still small to begin with so they feel its not worth it as it wont make a whole lot of money. Theirs also worry that yeah itll be somehow lost in translation but I think that is more an excuse. Im happy to see nitro + take a step with demonbane, saya and hanachirasu. Hopefully, theyre at least mildly successful here.
@06:58 unless you play your VNs in Japanese, the quality depends mostly on the groups or company doing the localization. I've played games where the translations are so bad it made me quit and uninstall in about 5 minutes and sadly quite a few of them were done by Mangagamer.
Good thing too since we already have someone doing most of the Type-Moon fan translations anyways, and they happen to be pretty decient with thier VN and fighting game works (yes they even did the Melty Blood series).
