Popular cosplay cutie Enako is complaining that she was groped and subjected to the most compromising of photography when mobbed by creepy otaku photographers at the recent Nipponbashi Street Festa in Osaka, calling it the most ill-mannered event she has ever had the misfortune to attend.
She related her unfortunate experiences on Twitter:
“Sutofes is over! I did Fate-chan.”
“But of all the events I have been at so far, the manners there were the worst, which was unfortunate. I enjoyed it, but I had as much discomfort as I did fun, so I just wanted to get out of there.”
“In the press of people, they were touching me up and taking photos of strange places at point blank range (´･_･`)”

2ch’s otaku population is proving itself a class act as always, wasting no time in blaming Enako, Osaka’s supposed lack of morals, and even foreigners, but apparently not being willing to place any blame on the hordes of camera-toting otaku swarming any cosplayer who was not obviously a man:
“Whenever she turned away the front rank of photographers were trying for peeping angle shots. I really thought it was a total violation of cosplay event etiquette. Still, it was a suggestive outfit and I don’t think anyone is going to be asking for permission to take shots of her crotch.”

A lot of people (including 90% of this site's userbase) strongly disagree with your last statement. But then again, a lot of people (including 90% of this site's userbase) are utter scum and human trash. As sad (and inexcusable) as it is, it was bound to happen and considering her amount of cosplay experience she should have been expecting this, especially at a 200k+ event.

I'm surprised nobody at TEPCO used this excuse at the nuclear plants after the tsunami. It seems to be the go-to explanation when anything negative occurs involving Japanese.
If I am ever in Japan and am accused of wrongdoing (such as groping schoolgirls) blaming the Koreans and Chinese will be my first line of defense.
If that doesn't work I will switch to: "It couldn't be helped."
I thought that by now, she's already prepared for anything.. as in anything good or bad associated with cosplaying.
Obviously by dressing up like that, not only that you'd attract loads of otaku but probably other people as well just to satisfy their curiosities and inadvertently, the perverts. I know that people must have the concept of respect but, there would still be assholes among us.
