The only reason that shit doesn't happen nearly as often with Christians is because we went through an Enlightenment and Muslims have yet to do that. They haven't had a cultural revolution that will change things for the better.

Being religious is the definition of insanity, you know why? Because true believers have no proof/evidence of what they live their lives by. All through blind faith, that is true madness.

Thinking that a God created the universe solves nothing since you just change the problem. Now instead of not knowing where the universe came from you just don't know where God came from.
Believing in something with no evidence is pure madness. Scientific theories about the matter admit that they are just theories, they do not claim the absolute.

And anyway thinking that some being created the universe isn't a religion. Religion is something a lot more specific with set of rules and directions.
They don't just say all this shit probably where created by a powerful mind. They make silly little stories and dogmas and claim them as absolute. A religious God has nothing to do with simply believing that there is some deity behind the cords of the universe.

Using people is a lot of things, but insane is not one of them. Although insanity and manipulative nature are not mutually exclusive.

Believing that one or more super beings popped out of nowhere to create reality is no more insane than believing reality exploded out of nowhere, or believing that reality was always here, but it merely seems like it came from nowhere; or believing that in reality, there is no reality, and we're only imagining that it -- and we -- exists.

Reality is metaphysical nonsense for "our perception of how the state of matter changes in the universe".
I may be misunderstanding you here, but it sounds like you are implying how mainstream science views the origin of the universe. If you do, then you clearly do not understand anything, because what you say does not remotely resemble any of the widely supported theories.

Correlation does not imply causation. Anything which causes a large number of people to be susceptible to manipulation is likely to be used for that purpose. Religion can be substituted for ideology just as easily. See: communism, racism, fascism, marketing, etc...

There is no reliable knowledge about any of the major deities. Everything we know, we learned from mythological texts who have a reputation of being... colored by the people who wrote and later copied them. Let me ask you a counter question. What makes those people so trustworthy that you will define your entire existence according to their stories? Why are their stories any more creditable than any other work of fiction passed as facts?
