Hatsune Miku Live Party 2012 (“MikuPa”) marks the latest live performance of “holographic” princess Hatsune Miku and her Vocaloid vassals, and as expected Miku shows off her latest tunes and costumes to much fan delight – although there are now some whispers of discontent at the formulaic nature of her appearances.
From the Nico live broadcast:
From the Dengeki event report:
Apart from some complaints about the balloons interfering with Miku-visibility, the reception from Miku fans is generally positive, with the event evidently maintaining the now stable CG and musical quality associated with her live appearances (not always a given).
However, some veteran fans are becoming concerned about a lack of novelty in Miku’s various live appearances, which whilst now quite polished are not displaying much in the way of variety (as might realistically be expected from repeatedly watching what is essentially a MikuMikuDance cosplay show on a projector at a venue) – a possible danger sign for organisers.

Mai waifu in a cheongsam!
Nothing else could possibly ruin my day :D
Wha-? I don't see any Hideyoshi dressing up as Miku up there..
BEST. IDEA. EVER.
Megurine Luka spinning, in a chinese dress, plus Miku with wings again, I'd say it was a worthy show. Wish I could have seen it. Guess I'll watch real-time snapshots from her FB page again tonight.
I just blasted gallons of blood from my nose seeing an official twintailed Rin...
Aren't this and today's (March 9 in Japan) concerts supposed to be the final ones?
Judging from what I have heard, it is more likely that they are the "final" concerts of their respective tours (for example: the 39s Giving Day tour, featuring The 39s and songs like World Is Mine, Romeo and Juliet, etc., and the Mikupa tour, featuring MKP39 and songs like Nisoku Hokou, Rolling Girl, etc.)
Hopefully, if SEGA/MAGES/Crypton Future Media know what's good for them, they'll be doing more 39 day concerts for years to come - Miku should be released in English sometime soon, which may bode well for non-Japanese, English-speaking fans...
But right now, it's hard to say. DISCLAIMER: my opinion doesn't really count, since I don't work for Crypton Future Media ;P

From the name of the concert tomorrow it seems so.
Any link of what are the stuff they use? Projector models, etc?
I did some quick research on this exact topic a few months ago, coming up with a Panasonic projector based on watching the video footage, and KOWA rental company based on the Blu-Ray disc credits.
Taking all this information into account, I would estimate that the projector models are 10000-lumen Panasonic TH-DW10000 units arranged in stacks of two each (the 2012 concerts used three of them for Mikupa and four for 39s Giving Day).
KOWA's page on these projectors is here:
http://www.kowanet.co.jp/rental/pj/pj-5.html#10000
Hope this helps! (Also, keep in mind that the cost of these units is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE and I would not advise a single person to take on the burden of paying for something like this... especially if you're attempting a fan-made concert for a small venue, which may not even need such bright projectors...)
Wow! This concert looks like it was absolutely stunning! I wish i could've gone in person.
I know right. Sooooooo ennnvviiooouussssssssd!
It was still kick ass over the nico nico douga stream!
Sega! dom dom dom dom dom dom dom dom Miku-Desu dom dom dom dom dom dom dom Miku_desu...
Lack of Novelty, maybe it is getting a bit old, but it's still impressive to see. Not sure how much they can spice it up though.
Those fans must be finicky as all hell if they think Miku's concerts are getting old already.
Why, AC/DC has been performing the same concert to sold out arenas around the world for >30 years. Miku's had, what, 3 "tours" like this with the screen? Some "fans" you got there Miku...
Might be true, but let's face it - MOST performers don't use the same tour every year. And since the 2009, 2010, and 2011 (Tokyo at least) concerts all had different sets, I'm not ashamed to admit that it was my expectation that the 2012 concert would be different as well.
There's been speculation that the contract with The 39s has not been re-negotiated, so unfortunately it's unlikely that we'll ever see them performing again (sad, because I personally thought they were much better than MKP39, even though MKP39 has improved quite a bit since the fiasco of 2011 Tokyo).
Hopefully, though, they'll pull some new songs together in time for next year's 3/9. I've already got three significantly different concerts on Blu-Ray already (2011 Tokyo/Sapporo, 2012 Mikupa and 2012 39s giving day) so if they don't do something radically different, I'm not going to buy any more!
Low-angle/Pantsu would spice it up.
If they do Tell Your World, nopan, to go with the picture.

Just saying.
They did. It's the opener for 9/3/12.
And thanks to you, I now have to go and search for a video...
awesome lights and shadows on the mikus
That was thew March 8th Concert!! The March 9th Concert JUST ended and it was BAD ASS!! NEW SONGS! AND A GREAT FUCKING SHOW!!!!
YES YES YES YES YES FUCKING YES.
DAIKANSHASAI BLOWS MIKUPA AWAY
SEGA BITCHSLAPPED MAGES AGAIN!
There were new songs (compared to Tokyo/Sapporo at least) in March 8...
Though I'll agree, March 9 was much better. But come on, it's The 39s... they'll kick MKP39 butt anytime!
Unfortunately there weren't THAT many new songs compared to the last 39s performance in Los Angeles. They did have full versions of some of the songs they used to cut short though!
And I still find it entertaining to watch LamazeP play the harmonica during Po Pi Po - a song that BOTH bands improved greatly upon compared to their prior renditions.
Best. Concert. Ever. I'm happy that I bought tickets and had to wake up @ 3:30 am to watch it.
Too bad no Tell Your World; hopefully they'll play it tomorrow :).
Ahh, good that you managed to get tickets and watch it.
I can only afford to be jelly.
I believe march 16th is when you can watch the concert(s) for free from niconico's archive.
As far as I can tell March 16th is the last day you can view the concert on nico assuming you bought a ticket.
You must be psychic — they did play Tell Your World in the 2012 3/9 concert! The 39s did an absolutely BEAUTIFUL rendition of this song... it always brings tears to my eyes...
i brrowed friends ticket to watch it
Looking at the screenshots, it looks pretty similar to the Sapporo 2011 concert... did they re-use alot of it?
awesome i bought the march 9th ticket just to support the princess im on a tight budget so i couldn't fork out 40 for both.. but hey at least im supporting what i love!
if ya wondering where to get tickets live.niconico.com =)
Can't wait for the blu ray
This MikuPa was the last one planned for exactly the region in your post. They don't want it to become overly routine and not special.
The crowning moment of the entire concert was towards the end, when they played Uta ni Katachi wa nai Keredo.
The tuning of the song was just out of this world! It was the most amazing, breathtaking, perfect and, well, just about any other superlative you can think of.
If you only watch one video from the entire concert, it must be that song (It's the song where she wears the outfit in image #61).
someone better invent the full 3D hologram and soon. :-P
I agree that variety was lacking. Greatly lacking at that. If they don't create new content and have something new out soon, Hastune Miku's hype will quickly fade away. And it would be fun to have the English samples released soon...
Miku's hype isn't fading at all. Miku in English?! No thanks. Hearing Miku without Saki Fujita's voice isn't Miku.
I would imagine that they would record the Miku english samples using the same voice they recorded the Japanese samples.
Preeety sure this is how they did Megurine Luka's English voicebank, too.
You're right ... Miku without Saki Fujita isn't Miku. That's why I'm almost certain that Crypton wouldn't release a Miku with a different voice...
KAITO AND MEIKO. That's just pure win.
YES.... YES KAITO'S FINALLY IN... NOW WHERE"S MEIKO!!!
She's in the 2012 3/9 concert. :D
This is absurd, why Sankaku didn't post any review about the 9th March 39's Final Concert?? While it has so many-many much more great improvements than MikuPa?
Get the transparent screen back! Otherwise it is just watching a tv screen!
They did... That was only a 5pb. thing. They've been using the transparent screen ever since Sapporo... though it still bugs me that MKP39 occasionally uses the opaque screen (situated above the transparent screen) during some songs.
I paid 40$ for the whole 2 concerts. This one was good, but the 39's giving concert finale was godlike-legendary-superbly and amazingly good!!! Hence, I wonder, Sankaku, you guys did a column for Mikupa, then do a one for 39's!!!!!!
MIKU WOOOOOOO!
