I love these lists because they're usually opposite of what the title implies therefore I treat it as a "To Watch" list.
which makes complete sense, seeing as "overrated" automatically means "absolute shit" in the eyes of most.
I agree with 3 & 4. I liked Ano Hi but the ending was just an emotional blackmail.

I don't see how Madoka can get any more popular than the big 3 shounen anime. Especially when you consider how pretty common they are world-wide.

From this list I think the ones I enjoyed most were Steins Gate and Evangelion. Bake/Nisemonogatari is good too.

A more appropriate ranking would be "every single anime based more on fanservice than story" which seems to be the case with aprox. 95% of all anime made since 2004.

I enjoyed the manga, now I'm afraid to watch the anime.
I never understood why people keep shitting on Naruto...It has annoying fans and horribly crappy fillers, yes, but the main story is good, and so is the action. But more importantly, it has good character development. And though it's quite sad when it happens, good and important people actually die, which happens several times, and that makes it feel more realistic. Kishimoto doesn't do weird mistakes all the time like Kubo (Bleach) does (I still watch Bleach even though I think it's worlds below Naruto, so don't give me shit about me not knowing what I'm talking about. Bleach oughta have ended after Aizen was defeated though), such as forgetting about characters (Kensei fucking where!?), or making a nice plot twist only to kill it and shoot himself in the leg right afterwards (I'm thinking Gin's "betrayal" of Aizen here).
It isn't just a case of increasingly powerful characters being able to kick the ass of everyone before them either, there are rock-paper-scissor cases of abilities. Not to mention there's much more variation in abilities, and people don't just swing a sword, and a mountain blows up. I can understand people liking One Piece, as it has a good premise, I just can't stand the art and character designs (real life women do not look like that, ok? And thank God for that!), and find the action pretty tame, probably due to having watched to much Bleach and Naruto for 10 years.
Anyway! I've had qualms with Bleach ever since the end of the Soul Society Arc, but Naruto I've liked mostly all the way (not counting fillers, which are horribad)! If you just don't like the series, then that's fine, but I wish people who barely even know much about it, or have watched like 10 episodes tops, would stop hating on it just for the sake of it.
That is why Naruto/Bleach are lower on the list. The haters balance out the fandom.

I haven't seen all the titles on this list, but given that alot of what they consider 'overrated' I actually like, maybe I'll just use this list as a recommendation of what I might like to watch!

K-ON should be at #1, that was a total crap!
Overrated implies that the series is generally not as good as majority of fans are making it out to be which makes a few higher contenders seem out of place. I would put Guilty Crown and Mirai Nikki up higher in that case.
Or it's good, but not THAT good. I liked Ano Hana, but I'll also be the first to admit it's severely overrated.
