Scandal-wracked moeblob seiyuu Aki Toyosaki’s live performance of a Beatles classic has been denounced as being “impossible to listen to for more than 10 seconds,” “truly awful” and “a blasphemous insult to all Beatles fans” – and for once it appears this is not the work of her creepy detractors.
The video in question, showing her guitar rendition of “Hey Jude,” by an ancient and obscure British band called “The Beatles”:
Of interest is the extraordinarily high proportion of negative ratings her masterful performance received – 3204 dislikes to 318 likes at the time of writing, as well as the many hundreds of negative comments received:
Even her normally ardent defenders are having trouble excusing her performance, and everyone is all but unanimous in criticising her performance:
“This is so bad you really can’t expect to listen to it for even 5 or 10 seconds. Give up singing if you’re just going to sully classics like that. Any music lover would agree.”
“Someone who lives off her voice ought to know when her voice can’t match the song. Maybe Tom likes this tune, but I can’t imagine many of her 20-something fans are Beatles fans, and this is just an insult to Beatles fans.”
“The negative ratings are going up by the second…”
“She’s good, isn’t she?”
“I’m no hater, but I can’t listen to this.”
“Disgraceful.”
“This is great! I liked it!”
“She’s so cute!”
“Unforgivable!”
“Gross, now all the creepy Beatles fans are going to go nuts.”
“Come on guys, she’s not singing with her hymen.”
“I get the feeling her score was written up in katakana…”
“I could sing better than this.”
“Try listening to the original after listening to this if you want to cry a bit.”
“She is just mocking the Beatles with this.”
“She’s awful!”
“Why is she singing in such a creepy voice? A seiyuu should know how to match a song to her voice.”
“Give her a break!”
“I went to her live performances twice. I was moved! You guys try singing in front of 2,000 guys!”
“Did you get your money back in the end?”
“No way – she soothed us with her fine voice! It was a bargain!”
“It’s nice that she can get paid for this.”
“She practised so hard!”
“She’s even cuter for failing so hard.”

Paul McCartney would probably find it funny. And John would like it because she's japanese and has an interesting voice.
Hey Jew.

Hey Due'd don't get meh wrong,...
If you're doin it karaoke, just turn up the volume and ANYONE will sound good.
^_^
Still better than Justin Bieber.
well that goes without saying.

Really thank you...
On the other side...
It should be something like k-on´s Yui right?
see ya
mrponeis
A wookie with a sore throat is better than bieber.
i don't think it's that bad. i don't like it particularly, but she made it her own. also she wasn't intentionally singing badly or trying to make fun by changing lyrics. i think she was probably doing one of her anime voices or something trying to be cute.
Didn't really watch, but she was singing in English right? Have you ever heard Japanese people try to speak in English before? It's crazy hard, so I think she did pretty well.
That being said, this is why you don't try and sing in other languages.
Met a few Japanese students. They sound fine but that maybe because they've been living outside Japan for a while.
I also sing japanese songs. Just singing along is no big deal, but when I recorded it I realized how awfull I really was.
Dunno why there is so much hate, sounds kinde cute, like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6m2NzdN7o0
I sing along with the Japanese songs on my playlist. It's not hard. You just have to, you know, practice.
Wow, you people can spell his last name right. You must love him.
That is more than his fans can do.
How would you know it's right... perhaps you're a fan too???
@04:56
Heh no, he is hated so much that it appears everywhere, you must love trolling over dumbshit.
Well guess what, so do I.
Who's Justin Bieber? Never knew him
some androgynous girl who became lesbian recently. she was dating a black rapper who lead her to .."stardom" *hand quotes*
Can we drop the Bieber jokes? That so 2010.
Hilariously enough, he actually sings better than her.
Yea I never understood the hate for Justin Bieber. Man knows how to sing. Maybe people don't like how happy his songs are? I dunno. I don't listen to him, but I have a friend who does.
Pretty much any an everyone is better than Bieber! Even William Hung!
Bieber wishes he was Hung.
I like what you did there.
Hey, his New Years Beatles interpretation was nowhere near as bad as this abomination
Dude, a 5 years old girl sings better than this!!She actually sings very very bad .....
Imagine the Sissy humming ...2H at a show
It only loses to Rebecca Black in( friday) :P
Search for "Someone like You(Adele)" sang by Anne Curtis , a celebrity here in the Philippines who think she's reaaaaaaly talented and the concert was even sold out wtf.
Not a girl or even a 5 year old, but if you think this is better than her singing, then there is something very wrong with you.

Pretty Moe... as Intended..
Not sure if I have a high musical tolerance or what, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be from all the reactions.
Just overlay Yui singing this and all the 2D lovers would be all "Yui-chan kawaii desu!!".
Yui would've sung it at a lower pitch. Or better yet Mio would've done a better rendition
Although I posted earlier I must agree, it might be a high musical tolerance that you have or maybe it's your ability to stay positive, either way keep it up. I'm just glad to see there are at least some people on this post that realize just because you might not prefer a musicians style or even worse how they performed one cover, doesn't make them any less talented. The only thing someone will accomplish with that kind of negative thought process is becoming more negative themselves.
It was cute and nice enough. Plus there's also the unnecessary amount of hate for K-On and J-pop anyway.
I agree, not as bad as I was expecting, but still pretty bad..... and I'm writing as I listen... and it's getting worse...
you should hear her sing Pretty fry for a white guy
That was Mai Kadowaki, not her.
Did anyone step on a cat's tail?
MY EYES MY EYES!!
Oh, my ears are bleeding!! MY EARS!!
I'd still bang her, as long as she has a ball-gag.
maybe its her tail you have been stepping on! ^^
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1UCbZPGzOU
try number 2
old video link got deleted.
The only way that she would of been able to get away with this is if it was Yui doing a cover of it. If you picture Yui with the K-On band singing it, it's fine. However, the 3D world is not going to let it slide so easily...
I like how everyone forgets the fact that she's singing in a language she doesn't know and sucks at pronouncing, and a completely different genre of music than what she usually sings.
Give the girl a break, all she wanted to do was sing a song she liked. And in my opinion, it came out pretty moe.
In the end, most of the people bashing and down voting are just jealous otaku or creepy Beetles fans.
If you can't handle it, then don't try it. Seems simple enough to me.
They should just animate Yui singing this, combine song and animation and BAM! Instant cash!
It wasn't bad, she went off key in some parts but hey, she's not singing something on her range so it's harder for her.
Does not justify the fact that it is Japanese and choose a song where she sings so heinous!!
Now just be voice of K-ON and anything that should be worshipped?
Really k-on was brain washed Japan!!
Lol it's funny how even people like you that seem to be fans of her don't get that that isn't her true voice.
She just making a silly anime voice, she can sing it a lot differently.
I agree with you.
This is not to be taken serious.
Most westerners probably would sound just as bad to the Japanese when they try to sing a Japanese song.
sanCOCKu and the "facts" about moe.
series 389 from uncounted.
the descriptions of moe is like 80% of what could be interpreted as emotions and something among the lines just packed into 1 word.
but why do i see the definition of moe in the rating of an idol.
I hate to quote Chris Crocker, but "LEAVE AKI-CHAN ALONE!!!"
@haters
She's not siren singer, but have you listened to 95% of all famous singers without autotuning?
Just let it be.
Just "Let it Be"
. . . .
I see what you did there.
Sorry... But Seiyuu Otaku Jihad has commenced and there is no breaks to this train wreck of loneliness.
So all raging seiyuu otaku's go kill yourselves now to claim your 3D virgins in the after life.
Well, if you listen to it out of its context (as in, Yui singing the song) it's pretty terrible. It was intended for her fans and they are probably the only ones who can enjoy it.
