The general opinion of the collator appears to be that the current peak was reached some years ago with IdolMaster, although given that the graphical capabilities of the current generation of consoles are now hopelessly out of date, this is perhaps more a reflection of the glacial pace of console hardware evolution than that of the games themselves.

Somewhere out there, my virtual wife is likely under construction! I'LL WAIT FOR YOU~! ^-^
I have to agree that Idolmaster is a good choice for the climax of CG animations.
Project Diva's franchise have been generally very good aswell. Especially when the Vita comes out, it will boast ps3 graphics like dreamy theater.
Project Diva looks 'old' in the comparison to other games from the graphics thought.
finally and epically nice topic though they're missing a few...
Totori D:
No posts on the purchase of Gust?
One of the girls from Final Fantasy 13 should be at the end. Probably Sara since she'll be the newest protagonist.
Lightning is hotter than Sara. Vanile seems to be in more porn though.
Was thinking quality up up up then hit Idol-master then quality down down down then after a few back to quality up up up
Guess we have highs and lows
Evolution. I just got a 3DS. 3D waifus, here I cum!
yes. LovePlus for the 3DS is gonna be awesome!
What the fuck? What about Ayane from ninja gaiden Sigma 2? There's Kasumi from DoA 2 so an update would be nice.
Not all "polygon", some are just animated 2D pictures, or not animated at all... older games could display those easily.
It's called cel-shade, sir.
but I think Japanese games should be played in the way they are originaly known for. 2D Anime style
I request a FPS with JRPG/Anime stories and characters
valkyria chronicles?
Not exactly an FPS, more a turn based strategy mixed with third person action. But as for JRPG/Anime stories, YES!
Overall: pure win. I loved it.
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division
While it's western-made, it's basically a Mecha-FPS (with both on-foot and in-mech levels).
It's a bit old (probably the same year as Half-Life), but - I have to admit - still fun.
Shogo rocks..triti
Hrrrggg....!
Much improvement indeed in pornography technology!
Not all of the improvement is technological; we've taken time to learn how to model an anime-ish head correctly. And there are some very simple tricks that work wonders (e.g. don't use flat shading, get your normals facing the right way, get your lighting right, use the backface culling with reverse normals trick to generate outlines) that are very doable even on quite old hardware (think 2000 or even earlier). The availability of graphical power is one thing, but programmers have to learn to use it effectively and that takes time.
I agree. Psychic Force is a good example:

This.
heeeey, what about schoolmate 2? isn't it better?
The PS2 has been out for nearly 12 years, that doesn't seem right to me dammit!
The IdolMaster 2 came out this year.
thanks for reminding me why polygons suck ass
I was following along until the style took a nose dive into moeblob. Bleh.
How so? 3D arts were never meant to go to no other direction aside realism at the first place.
1993 Virtua Fighter, fap fap fap.
Mm-hmm, gotta get me a piece of that Pai.
Wha? No Marvel vs Capcom Felicia or Morrigan? I thought they were excellent models to show off the advances in tech.
I'd demand for KOF:Maximum Impact and Soul Calibur too.
No Valkyria Chronicles? What the damned shit!?
Now that you say it... THIS LIST IS INCOMPLETE!
... Well, there's something you've heard on every list here :/
Still, it really should be up there, that game made me buy a PS3
Same, while MGS4 made me buy a PS3, it was a game like Valkyria Chronicles that made me burn 70+ hours into it, hell part II for the PSP alone is already clocked at 109 hours and i'm STILL going strong trying to level up the VC1 team to their former glory :D
And yes Peacewalker is at 60+ hours as well, two games that justified the big boss package PSP bundle :P
Come to think of it, the girls from MSG4 should have been here and they'd be right at the graphical top.
THE FORCE IS STRONG WITH THIS ONE..
Eternal Sonata isn't on there either.
did anyone else think that they looked realistic back then when it was polygons?
Yes. Nostalgiafags.
No, but what's realistic in anime? I thought Rival Schools looked pretty good for what it was. The Japanese version also came with the "Evolution Disc" which was like a Rival Schools SLG with 2D hi-res dialogue sprites.
DoA1 also bridged the gap between Toshinden and DoA2 pretty nicely - but it had Tekken 1 style flat stages with backdrops.
Also, it is still polygons. Do you mean flat-shaded? No - that was horrible.
You can get better moe models with Sims 2 and a bunch of custom content (skins, eyes, hair, etc). You can even pretend they're your waifu and follow them around.
Mind you, Sims 2. Sims 3 can't into thin anime-ish faces.
3D Ever17 just doesn't look right...
I was playing Ever17 last night, enjoyin' mah chicken sandwiches.
Glad to see Cyril making an appearance as one of the hottest polygon ever rendered in game history :3
Still missing
Kos-MosShion and the best panty-flashing 3D loli; Momo though.I'm glad you crossed that out... those eyes.. I.. I rather not remember.
Nah, I'm fine with Episode 1's design (Episode 2's drastic "Let's make them Final Fantasy-ish!" change is what makes me want to dig out some part of my brain just to forget those horrors). I just crossed Kos-Mos' name since she's getting too overrated especially when it comes to getting numerous figure releases.
Can you get any of these games in English? For Xbox or Windows?
what about rapelay and sexy beach 3?
