well gintoki IS based of sakata Kintoki, a legendary samurai whos emtoher was an OGRE,so no wodner hes badass^^ most of the heroes on the list definately deserve to bethere, though lelouch is a little too.. FABULOUS to be really BADASS.
I will never understand why Scryed keeps making it onto these lists. To me, it seemed like bland, forgettable shounen pap. But apparently a lot of people love it to this day. I'm mystified as to why...
You only think its bland because you watched it now. From back then, it was actually very blood pumping. Unlike shounen of today, it didn't feel like it was all ass-pull, just very energizing.
I don't really see that as an excuse. I've watched anime older than Scryed, and a good story holds value over time. It's just.... not a good story to me. It felt like a huge waste of time.
Unless you're watching a soap opera or other unending serialized show, you usually want a definitive ending. A good one. A bad ending, or no real ending in this case, can really make or break a show.
It was ok for a few episodes, but got boring fast.

The Japanese didn't care much for Cowboy Bebop.

Its broadcast run was screwed over, but to say Cowboy Bebop was not popular or a commercial success is far fetched.
It was a lot more popular oversea's compared to Japan.

holy shit that's one of the worst ignorant comment i've ever seen, "Most" people rather watch anime in their original language rather than those piece of shit english dubs
the only ever english dub i'll respect are the MGS series
Actually, there's been a fair number of anime series where the English dubs were either equal to or better than the Japanese version. GitS has a good English dub, and Bebop had a great one. .hack//sign was pretty good, and more recently Highschool of the Dead and Dance In The Vampire Bund made off with some quality dubs.
It's very hit and miss though.
@16:00- You are the ignorant "Most people" like to watch anime in their native language. Whether it be Spanish, Portuguese, German, Turkish, or English.
"English dub sucks" seems to only occur in the U.S.
You never see "Español chupa doblaje, los subtítulos son mejores"
For the most part I prefer subs, but I thought the Bebop Dub was pretty well done. *shrug*
I agree with the peeps saying Cowboy Beebop and Ghost in the Shell (movie and series) had great dubs. Another great anime that was English dubbed were both the Full Metal Alchemist series.
I know a bunch of people are gonna cry about what I'm about to say next, but DBZ's English dub was FAR better than the Japanese cast. How people could even stand to listen to Goku was beyond my comprehension. I can't even watch the show subbed it's so bad.
So yeah, English dubs are usually extremely shitty, but in recent years, and with a few oldschool shows, the English voice cast was great and preferable over the Engrish dubs we got most of the time.

It was a very good attempt, and very well made, but it was still lacking. In spite of the characters extensive back stories, they lacking any depth of personality.
Anime is rife with dime-a-dozen moe girls, cut and paste tsunderes, and loser harem leads, and you claim the cast of Bebop lack personality?
The slew of minor characters and unique situations added in almost every episode showed a variety of changes in motivation and attitude among the main cast. They could be hard-nosed or convinced by outside forces, as opposed to the shallow, no-growth characters that lived in bubbles like a classroom or magical deus-ex.
