wow - that many ppl havent figured out how to read manga on the internet yet
some people have money and like to support the industry....
I cut down on extra costs (such as eating out, etc.) and buy the series I like (i.e. that I read online!). Having it in physical copy just cannot be compared to having a digital copy when its for a quick re-read.
When it's to work with the said images, HQ scans are definitely the way to go.
Without the books, there will be no Manga to read on the internet... (^.^;)
You're the reason the Japanese publishers don't like white people.
You wouldn't even be able to read it on the Internet if people didn't buy the books.
i never said i did read it on the internet - i barely read manga at all - i buy the manga if it has chapters im interested in and buy the anime if i have the money and it gets released here - for instance i have Heaven's Lost Property on preorder but hardly anything good i want to read from the stores near here.
Lol... white folk..
Depends on what kind of white people. Men LOVE Blond+blue eyes girls with big breast
Have you never read a book in real life? It's like comparing sex to porn. Reading online/ebooks leaves me feeling unsatisfied and confused!
acutally yes have you ever read the assassins of tamurin - if not i suggest you pick it up
On top of everything else
it only costs 400 yen to buy a new (105yen for used) manga in Japan for most titles.
manga is fantastic for reading on the train/bus.
people like to have their collections.
japanese police care about people reading manga online.
One Piece remembers me DBZ.
After a challenge, defeat, power up/lvl up, then kill, then it repeats.
The BIG difference however, DBZ wasn't that boring!
Not really...
The part of One piece that I like most is that is not like DBZ in that sense at all... Yu must read one piece.
no.. you're thinking of bleach....
No... you're thinking of One Piece.
all manga have become the same. the story is taken out of a street fighter arcade.
You admitted earlier that you never read one piece so, suffice to say, you are not qualified to make such a claim.
Well, I read it. From time to time. Not a fan, though.
Not at all. Bleach is, and I'm not normally a hater, exactly what you described, but one piece is neither formulaic or boring. Sure, they fight people in every arc, but if you think that's repetitive, never read any ongoing series ever again.
lol, Luffy wouldn't ever be able to destroy Whitebeard or Raileigh, and is way too far from Aokiji/Akainu/Kizaru, and those are just a few. Plus, when he loses, he loses good.
Goku just throws a kamehameha or a genkidama and everyone dies... and if goku dies, who cares? he can revive right away.
So you've... never actually read One Piece, then?
Complete BULLSHIT! One Piece hat more creativity and FAR FAR better writing than DragonBall. Toriyama even admitted that he made up the story as he went along with it. Oda on the other hand plans YEARS ahead and his storyarcs are perfectly written! One Piece has surpassed DragonBall in EVERY aspect!
Wow, what a difference from 1st to 2nd.
One Piece really is awesome.
best selling doesnt always mean best quality
True, but for a series to reach 600+ chapters and still be so interesting, I would probably agree with it's 1st place ranking.
Though the difference between 1st and 2nd is still pretty surprising.
What's surprising about it is the fact that One Piece wasn't interesting in the beginning and only got less interesting as it continued.
I can't help but agree. If you checked multiple manga reading sites, Naruto is usually #1 and One Piece is usually in 5th or above.
so u r saying.. the ninja readers pirates more than the pirates reader :O?
I beg to differ. I think the series got MORE interesting as it went on. However the reasons manga reading sites have Naruto listed as #1 is because Naruto is more popular over here in the States than One Piece. In my opinon, One Piece's story/characters are a lot better written than Naruto's
Popularity does not mean quality.
Twilight. Enough said.
Yeah, its good quality is coincidental.
In this case it's the freakin quantity that's driving things. And the length of time.
no idiot. this is the total sale from nov 2010 to Nov 2011. so it's valid to compare.
If I was to start reading One Piece today, and if I liked it, I'd probably buy the rest of the volumes.
One person, 64 sales.
This isn't that hard to understand...
That argument might hold water if the other comics aren't also far into the double digits. Naruto's total volumes are 5/6 One Piece's. It's selling at 1/7.
@Notto Disu Shitto Agen
Lets not forget the buy 1 for collection, 1 for loaning out and 1 for general reading. >.o
37,996,373 X 410 YEN = 15,578,512,930 YEN ≒ 200,230,000 USD
WTF
OMG is this correct WTF!?
And the PM wants to Bann ANIME!!!
Not PM, but ISHIThara the one who wants to ban Anime
that is why he should go eat shit like his name suggest
nice move of trying to eliminate japan alternative source of income
hell, i even hope one day it will be the primary source of income
Sadly the guy that makes the damn thing wouldn't even see 5% of that revenue, it would all be going to magazine it's published in and their investors.
whats the japan's primary source then? schoolgirls pantsu?
this is incorrect, according to today's exchange rate 37,996,373 YEN = 488,454.95 USD So .5 million USDs is quite understandable for a manga in one year
Actually, you are incorrect. Your post assumes that a tankoban sells for 1 yen.
488,454 USD x 410 = still >200 million USD
If in doubt, use google anon.
Typing in "38000000YEN to USD" will convert it for you without having to do complicated mathematical tasks like multiplication.
If Ishithara ban all manga & anime, then Japanese economy will get in chaos for sure
Tbh, 2*10^8 is actually almost insignificant to an economy as large as Japan's.
probably 1 person bought 35 millions
Really surprised to see Bleach so low.
I'm surprised it's so high... :P
I'll have to agree with Anon 17:11. It's been a few years since the last time Bleach was good.
Over half of the Bleach fanbase gave up on it midway through the Hueco Mundo arc.
At first when I started watching it Soul Society Arc had just ended and I kept watching the 1st filler arc 'n' it was still cool, but den I read the manga and was like "come on cut this filler crap and get on with the awesome Arrancars already!!"
But den the Hueco Mundo Arc finished and I was like "GOD, WHY AM I STILL READING THIS CRAP FOR 3 FUCKING YEARS..."
And then, I guess, I stopped reading...
oneshitpiece sucks..
You're shit
Are you mortified that One Piece is so popular? Ooooh how I hope you are!!! :)))
