People who follow these things have been complaining about ISML since its inception. It is a fatally flawed process whose length causes massive ennui. The fact ISML was born of the butthurt caused by the 2007 Saimoe tournament seems to be something you are too new to know about. It has nothing to do with Mikoto and everything to do with the lack of legitimacy inherent in ISML.
But all of those were filtered out, right? Unlike other tournament that failed to do so and caused Mikoto to win.
Not only is this a news item no one cares about, because LOL ISML, it's also weeks late. Next thing you know we'll get a report on the most popular Naruto character in some random forum poll from last year.

I'm pretty sure that anonymous was referring to "Madoka" the series, not the character, seeing as the series completely dominated the tournament (though the character did fairly well herself, just missing the finals by about 17 votes).

And I was always worried that my Kyouko didn't get enough love. I glad that I was mistaken. :'D
actually, the drawings essentially left Kyouko with a free pass in the semi-finals (Erica Hartmann shouldn't have even been there). Given, she did face Kuroneko in the quarter finals, but Mami had a much more severe uphill battle on her side (she opposed both Ika-musume and her fellow Puella Magi). Nothing against Kyouko, though. In fact, this tournament proved that all 5 of that show's main characters are extreme powerhouses in their own right (even Homuhomu; despite her upsetting first round loss, it was one hell of a fight).

'Moeblob' can be any character type. The term technically refers to a character with a number of 'moe' traits. For instance, Mikoto is tsundere, likes cuts things and gets embarrassed easily. Yuki is a quiet
meganeko. Yui is cute, air headed and clumsy.
Tere has it right. A moeblob is a character that may have no purpose other than to appeal to as many different tastes as possible.
I thought "moe" was the general term and moeblob was specifically used for characters who were defined by JUST those traits; i.e. Mikuru Asahina. The ONLY thing they seem to have going for them is a vague cuteness, childishness, and helplessness. They have no other major characteristics.
A moeblob is an anime that has a whole lot of moe thrown in it. Mostly it is used to refer to the Type B anime.
Moe is kind of hard to explain. It basically means "anything cute and innocent" that is aethestically pleasing. You know ;)
