3 Puella Magi Madoka Magica Movies Announced

Top magical puella anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica is apparently to receive a brand new movie edition, much to the delight of fans and, doubtless, QB.
The sole basis for the announcement is a leaked image of what is purported to be the cover of the December edition of Newtype. The general consensus is that it appears to be genuine.
Details are as yet lacking, but utterly groundless speculation as to its content ranges from it being a mere recap of the TV series to it being a tale of mahou shoujo from another age.
The online reaction has been quite enthusiastic – although not always in the conventional sense, as frightening amounts of effort have been expended in trying to prove the cover is a fake (if so, it is at least a very good one), that it was leaked by Aniplex (based largely on a piece of paper visible under the cover), and (most plausibly) that Shaft is likely to be in trouble producing both Madoka and Kizumonogatari movies at the same time.

Oh I hope one of those movies will have a happy ending where Madoka and Sayaka get resurrected and then reunites with Homura, Kyouko, and Mami. I am still heart-broken with the anime's ending.
You were heartbroken at the anime's ending? It was by leaps and bounds happier than many of us expected. The series was written by GEN UROBUCHI! Be glad that they (for the most part) came out of it with their souls and sanity intact.

Wrong, the ending was not 100% perfect (i.e. what we WANTED, but it was indeed "good"). Just because a show doesn't end "Happy" doesn't by default make it not "good."

Fake, ANN broke the story first but then their source said confirmed that thats not the newest Newtype cover.
First was the leak. Then was the twitter post apologizing over unconfirmed news. Now, it's been twittered again into real proof.
I'm hoping for a sequel, considering some of the obvious hints in the series that it would be ongoing. But it better be directed/written by Shinbo and Butch. I want something as meaningful as the series itself...

Awesome, I heard about a movie, didn't know there'd be three though. They're milking it but I don't mind, can't wait till they come out. Even the rehashes, I've been meaning to rewatch the series.
I think those two will focus more on the other timelines of the series and the last one at the manga.

There are 3 manga versions existing (Mahō Shōjo Madoka Magica, Mahō Shōjo Kazumi Magica – The innocent malice,Mahō Shōjo Oriko Magica) and 3 movies planned.

I wonder if Shaft and the whole crew can repeat the blow delivered by the anime.
I'm not interested in the recap movies (the increasing trend in Japan), but certainly I have some hopes for the new story (the Urobuchi ridiculous scifish stuff). And Akiyuki Shinbo better stay out of slice-of-life stuff.
From the update: Urobuchi had already pretty much finished the final draft for the new film, and production is proceeding next. According to Shinbo, the subtitle of the new film is still undecided, but he really wanted to call it "Incubator no Gyakushū" ("Incubator Strikes Back" or "Incubator's Counterattack")
So if the new movie's title will be called as the first translation states, can we expect Incubators in starships to hunt Homu Homu in the Dagobah System?

Can't say I will not watch it, because I will if it were to be true. I'll take it that it would be a re-imagining of the series.
I personally hope it's an alternate route that was taken by Homu Homu. Let's see a all-happy ending. Or maybe a Homulust ending.

Since 2 of the movies are indeed going to be retellings of the story, perhaps we'll see some of the alternate timelines that we got a glimpse of in the series, but never really got to experience.
I want the first(?) timeline, with Homu Homu meeting Madoka for the first time; I want to see what it was like for Homura to go through the series with no powers yet, just watching Badass!Madoka do her thing
Then let it be so, but TBH what I want now it for Mami to have a bigger role! I've always enjoyed putting myself in any(and all if possible)of the character's shoes but the punch in the gut, I practically felt as Mami died just after finding happiness in Madoka's words seriously made me feel like crying.
I agree; Mami needs to be a more headstrong character. She needs to stop sticking her neck out for others though as it seems to came back to bite her. Given the chance I think she can be the 'grand chompian' of the characters.

You know, I think she fulfilled her role, after all we know Mami had been doing this for longer than any of them, and therefore we saw things as much as Madoka did. I had that feeling too, sometimes it is best to limit our knowledge on certain things. The simple fact that we were able to felt something like that makes it a great decision.
I fear it to be a re-make of the series just like Shakugan no Shana's OVA but please let it not be so

Recap movie is not always bad. Remember Gurren-hen and Lagann-hen ? They're movie base from TV series of TTGL and they're actually improve the series, especially Lagann-hen.
The only doubt is Shaft's ability, can they top themselves like what Gainax did?
Improved? Don't be ridiculous, you wouldn't even be able to grasp the meaning from the movies if you never watched the TV series in the first place. The movies were more action packed, but they didn't add anything to the actual story except for the slight glimpse in the previous spiral war.
I wonder why even bother about the other 2 since they are just recap
