And I should point out that the last scene with Kobato it's better in the manga.

The anime is taken from the light novels, which the manga is also adopted from. They are the EXACT same thing. Only minor things are different. And the manga actually covers much more detail and has many more jokes.
I just don't see how you can find any more characterization or plot in the anime.
I love this series and it has a really good plot the anime especially. The manga has barely any plot and is just random. That doesn't make the manga bad it's still really funny. But the anime has way better characterization and development. Not to mention it hints at the romance alot earlier on
