Of all the witches, this is the one figure for me.
she has dog ears and her last name is BARK-horm? Really? lol
The name Barkhorn comes from the fact that her character is a persona of the second best ace in WWII Gerhard Barkhorn (the top being Erich hartmann, his fellow Luftwaffe pilot) so its not really supposed to be a pun.
oh come on, I know they take cues from WW2 but this one had to be too good to pass up.
Not much different than gender flipping chuck and poking fun at him breaking the sound barrier by making charlotte a rabbit.
Well what probably happened in the planning stages was that they picked the pilot (in this case, Gerhard Barkhorn) to genderflip first, then made a pun out of it second by giving Gertrud ears that obviously looked like a dog.
Or it could be that they just genderflipped Gerhard Barkhorn and thought floppy dog ears would look cute on her (I certainly think they do), and the pun was just an unintended happy accident.
Whatever the situation was however, the decision for Gertrud to be a genderflipped Gerhard Barkhorn came first.
That split... O.O
