I dunno if that's sarcasm but I also like the character design. It's different and cute.
feels a bit rushed if you read the manga/novel.
some moments were cut like maria kind of realizing she got tricked again or rika explaining seme and uke to yozora. plus they didn't directly talk about doujinshi as sena starts getting excited with rika asking for tokimemo doujinshis.
they basically covered 3 chapters in one ep, which makes me think they're going to cover all 8 light novel volumes by the end of the season.
next ep should be good. looks like kobato vs. maria next.

referencing other shows doesn't make it bad, its more like fan service. besides look at lucky star. that was nothing but references and it was good. i was a little skeptical about this anime at first to be honest but I gave it three episodes, like with every anime since madoka, and I'm actually really starting to like it.

Are you still on that? This is, as you can see, nothing like haruhi. Let it be character or plot, the only prominent similarity is the club. But even that should be it's own genre!
Most of the people who enjoy anime are either teenagers or really nostalgic for their high school days. Setting it in a high school also makes it possible to have radical character shifts over the course of the adventure because the kids are still trying to figure out who they are and dealing with crazy hormones.
So it's not surprising for a lot of anime set in high school to feature things you'd find in a high school. After school clubs can be seen in Persona 3 FES, Fate Stay Night, Haruhi but those three examples are radically different from each other. And so is TGS.
Same like Haruhi? Nah, I didn't see Yozora acting like a total bitch and blackmailing people when she first started the club.
