Chinese are finally celebrating a happy tale from the chaos of their nation’s roads – the driver of this vehicle apparently somehow managed to survive the impact of a truckload of metal bars almost unscathed.
The incident unfolded in China’s Zhejiang province. The driver involved had no number plate, so upon seeing police he immediately tried to perform a U-turn in the middle of a busy road, at which point he collided with a taxi in the opposite lane.
After losing control of his vehicle he collided with a three wheeled truck carrying a cargo of steel frame, which shed its load into his windscreen.
Amazingly, he avoided total perforation by throwing himself into the passenger seat, as in addition to missing a number plate he was apparently not wearing a seatbelt either. The poles missed his head “by a few cm.”

It'd be amusing if he flung himself to the passenger seat and the passenger seat exploded
"Unlimited Iron Works"
I blew my pop out of my nose on that one.
That would have happened if he was driving a China made car, good thing he was driving a Volvo...
Which invented the seatbelt... Ridiculous irony much???
Volvo is a Chinese company since 2 years ago
Volvo may now be Chinese owned, but they are still being developed in Sweden.
Most of their cars sold around the world are still made in their European plants just like before.
Like most foreign carmakers, models sold in China are either assembled or manufactured locally. Quality is usually good because these are "real" and NOT knock-offs.
but its not totally made in china.
chinese cars are death traps, fool.
Stop stereotyping. China mass manufacturer a lot of stuff, while most low end stuff have questionable quality, not all are. Especially
more expensive items like cars.

you know, death doesn't like to be cheated...
final destination?
There is a scene in one of the Final Destination films just like this....except no happy ending.
Driver was impaled and died.
There was a similar scene in Final Destination 2.
The cop guy was supposed to be obliterated into a reddish mist by a large log falling off a truck and through the windscreen.
inb4 said Chinese dying later of mysteriously convenient 'coincidences'.
Exactly my tought, Dan Hibiki ^_^;;
It will be an explosive one.
Thanks for the advice... creepy guy
I am not sure how "lucky" he really is. After the Chinese police and justice system get through with him, he may regret not opting for swift impalement.
Really now? Given the car he was driving, it would be a fair assumption to assume that the guy has some money. China's rule of law is still crappy as fuck so maybe he or his family have enough money/connections to buy the courts off. In this case money will probably save him given he didn't seriously injure or kill anyone else.
Well without a number plate it's likely to be a stolen car
A guy who can afford to buy Volvo in China... You really think he'll get in trouble with the cops, besides the obligatory bribe?
“buy a Volvo”
>no license plate
are you retarded? it was obviously stolen
So much irony here.
I saw what you did there.
I don't it was steel not iron
Steel is carbonated iron. it's strength and malleability depends on the ratio of iron to carbon.
now stop arguing and just have fun.
Iron isn't steel, but steel is mostly iron.
"The irony is that they are celebrating the survival of a criminal, where just weeks before they seemed to take the moral high-ground over criminals..."
I wonder what made you think that crimes such as not wearing seatbelt and having no plate number while driving made someone deserving to die.. I'm not from china, and as long as nobody died from that accident, I doubt that he will be punished with death penalty. ..someone should educate you about how valuable life is.
The irony is that they are celebrating the survival of a criminal, where just weeks before they seemed to take the moral high-ground over criminals...
Isn't steel made with iron though?
just ask sasha(qwaser) if iron is steel :p
chemistry 101: iron is steel.
That is one impressive end result. Makes a nice pic ^^
Wow that looks like an attack by Gilgamesh's Gate Of Babylon except that it is not by swords maybe he kinda lazy to forge swords?
@Altair: so true, Caster... I mean the driver "Rule Breaker" after all.
Don't you just love that? Let's melt down good metal in already functional things like pots and swords to make shitty ass metal and fail at making anything decent from it. LOL at great leap forward indeed.
if that came from a Chinese Archer class servant then that his Ignoble Phantasm.
End of Evangelion where Asuka gets skewered.
It's the Chinese knock-off of the Gate of Babylon, post-Great Leap Forward.
They had to melt down all the swords into poles to meet their quota.
or the driver put the metal to the pedal.
Is there an irony here that the car is Volvo which is dubbed the "safest car in the world" yet the driver was saved by not wearing a seatbelt and add to that, having no license plate?
Haha "irony".
hahaha i see what you did there
I knew seatbelts were only there to kill you off. They are only in your way. >:V
Dunno about now. But I remember statistically, in the UK anyway, seatbelts caused more injuy and death than those who didn't fasten them.
What's more ironic though is now we actually have more speed cameras, speed bumps and traffic lights...yet the number of road accidents has rose almost 10 fold.
Well, there's a logican answer to that. People feel safer when they wear belts. And when they do, they somehow end up thinking they are invincible and starts shitting up with their driving route.
Then shit happens.
just sounds like they're able to record a higher instance of accidents... fewer unobserved ones.
@16:31
If only that was the case. Roads that had little accidents are now brimming with them since adding speed cameras. It was mentioned in both Metro and Guardian, including reader experiences couple months back. Also from myself, a road not far from me has also become a hot bed for veering off into a corner guard rail since adding 2 speed cameras.
Adding more "safety" precautions doesn't mean it will actually be safer. There's no proof of it in this case. People who drive recklessly will drive recklessly. Adding a speed camera will only make reckless drivers take more risk. There's already been controversy over the issue of smacking those cameras everywhere they can and just seems more of quick cash in for the pigs on patrol and a waste on our taxes.
No irony there. Volvo is so safe that you don't even need to wear your seatbelt.
Volvo is so safe that you can fap while driving
indeed, lots of irony there
Well, even if Volvo is the "safest car in the world" it won't make a douchebag become a better or safe driver
He was almost pierced by irony things
