Unexpectedly for a game-based film, the casting of Hiroki Narimiya as Phoenix Wright (Naruhodō Ryūichi) in the upcoming movie adaptation of Capcom’s Ace Attorney (Gyakuten Saiban) series has been meeting with widespread approval online.
Almost unheard of for a game to movie adaptation, the online reaction is almost uniformly positive:
“No objection!”
“He looks just the part…”
“No objection, unexpectedly.”
“This verdict is quite the reverse!”
“I’ll watch it!”
“It won’t be this close, surely.”
“Ob-No objection!”
“I expect they can get someone to match the judge as well.”
“They really put some effort in then.”
The film is due to hit Japanese cinemas on February 11th, 2012.

Also gba? lol DS=remakes

Well the DS version is half remake, half port
His hair is awesome.
FALCON HAIR!!!
Its wolverine! With the horn hair at the back!
Kazuya Mishima
The movie will be pure win if we see some boots to the head.
What is that chart on the page? One part looks blank.
yup, it's the "terror" score
He looks like a villain.
What 07:33 said. It looks like an appraisal of "how right they got it". :D
I am estimating the nuance rather than doing literal translation here... apologies...
Clockwise from top:
怖 Scare factor (none)
ファンタジー Ridiculousness (high)
難解度 Difficult to pull off (low)
コメディー Funny factor (high)
再現度 Attention to detail (high)
感動 Emotional (medium)
The question I have is, is this an appraisal of the image/wardrobe, or are they guessing at what the film overall will be like?
what shld i say to the barber if i want a haircutlike that ?
My hair is Phoenix Wright. Your case is invalid.
NOT GUILTY!
wut da heil!!

You are doing it wrong. You are supposed to prove that the witness is guilty, not that your client is innocent.
He looks too old.
Hell sign me up, he does look the part...
If only Hollywood could produce even HALF this effort for finding actor that can give of the "feel" of a character then maybe Hollywood isn't doomed yet.
Well, they do sometimes hit the mark.
Patrick Stewart as Professor X was pretty much a no brainer and a fan choice as well for years.
Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker/Spiderman also worked pretty well.
Chris Evans is far more suited to be Steve "Captain America" Rogers, than he ever was as Johnny Storm.
And Robert Downey Jr was pretty much meant to play Tony "Iron Man" Stark, especially considering his alcohol problems in the past, and how that character has the same flaw.
But you do have a point, more often than not they make some rather strange choices. Like Sly Stalone as Judge Dredd, Halle Berry as Catwoman, Ben Affleck as Daredevil, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, or Michael Clarke Duncan as the Kingpin.
And don't even get me started on the games to movies conversions About the only half decent castings one that I can remember, the main trio of Mortal Kombat and Mark Wahlberg as Max Payne, the latter just got stuck with a stinker of a script. Because looks wise he does resemble Max, more so than any other actor. And he can do brooding and tortured acting wise. *shrugs*
Blame Kevin Smith for Ben Affleck's Daredevil, he's the one recommending it to the studios I heard. :D
I dunno, I think Zack Snyder came pretty close with Watchmen and 300. But he's the exception.
Doesn't it bother the Japanese when people in live action movies have these crazy hairstyles? I'd have hard time taking that guy seriously if he were my attorney.
Anyone wearing a blue suit in court can never be taken serious.
I'd have a tougher time taking anyone seriously in the old British courts, what with the white powdered wigs and stuff.
Hmm... Yes, Yes, I approve of this choice!
He certainly looks the part.
I look forward to seeing how this turns out.
No objections!
born that way?
I wouldn't mind
I would like to see a female character.
All the female characters that appear in CAPCOM are attractive.
objection!
*plays awesome BGM*
Will they have a good Maya and Pearl?
A good 3D loli will make this full of win.
Yesssss
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
Must be a bitch to wash axle grease out of your hair.
The voice becomes real.
call that guy from machinima NOW!!!!!!!!!hes the real Phoenix Wright
When are we gonna get a Phoenix Wright here in america starring Jim Carrey/Shia LeBouf Vs. Jason Marsden/Robert Pattinson as Miles Edgeworth?
He does look the part but don't forget that "All it takes to mimic Phoenix Wright is the spiky hair and the blue suit"
And a cardboard badge
Doesn't look right to me especially the hair!
And the face is all wrong!
But it generally looks like it. So whatever.
Uhm....he's Japanese? His name isn't even Phoenix Wright on that side of the world. He's got the general look and attitude down, and that's something.
There's only one big glaring problem. The actor isn't WHITE.
Look at the character design and tell me that looks like a Japanese guy. The jawline, the nose, the eyes, yeah... those are all Caucasian features.
I thought it was already proven that all anime characters look like white people. You'd think the casting director would've realized this.
LOLOLOL are you an idiot? This is a Japanese game with Japanese characters with Japanese names. Of course they are going to be Japanese. No one cares if the drawings are closer to a caucasian's anatomy. Ace Attourney's art isn't exactly realistic looking either and there's a limit to how clear the transition is from 2D to 3D.
Also it's like your saying that basically every live-action drama/movie up till now fails because they don't cast white people. Get a fucking brain.
And also Hiroki Narimiya is fine. I'm so glad they managed to cast an actor of his caliber.
Your irony detector is broken.
Sorry I can't tell anymore, too many idiots on the internet.
Irony? Try troll radar instead.
HA HA you got pwned.
You damn anime nerds take yourselves too seriously.
The real question is why do the Japanese portray themselves as white people in anime?
Blond haired blue eyed anime character with Japanese name - YEAH RIGHT.
They need to be more accurate and draw their characters with slanty eyes and bad teeth. And every single character has to have black hair. No if's and's or but's. If they want to keep it real.
Not sure if trol... oh wait, I am sure this is trolling
Moving along, nothing to see here
m.night went by this logic and failed. your argument is invalid.
