JSDF Invites Cosplay Chaos On Base

Japan’s Marine Self-Defense Force recently held their own cosplay free-for-all at their Ozuki Air Base, replete with a legion of Strike Witches cosplayers, some rogue dollers and even a wild Lenfried.
Fortunately the event was well attended by journalists as well as the expected creepy otaku:

How about Lelouch Lamperouge cosplay? Since he is a defender of japan or Eleven(maybe sometimes) from the Evil Britannia Empire.
Making your chin into a triangle just for the sakes of a cosplay seems a bit hardcore.

Wow that was pretty nice of them to hold an event like that I wish I was there. Judging by the photo they had pretty good cosplay and performance from the troops and the plane was freaking awesome.

Honestly, it just doesn't work. Strike witches cosplays certainly.. but slapping random cosplays to some random Cessnas or MD500s doesn't cut it.

JMSDF is the Japan MARITIME Self-Defense Force. "Marines" are completely different, and Japan does not have a Marine force.
they're all kinda ugly. the heavy makeup is a dead giveaway.
So... Where are they keeping the Voltes V and Gundam air crafts? I'm sure they would have provided a more entertaining show.

You hardly think they're going to roll out their fuel guzzling extremely expensive jets for a cosplay event? What you see are mostly trainer and coast guard type aircraft.
They could have at least moved a couple of jets out to be used as a background. These old practice propeller aicrafts weren't too impressive, at least compared to the F-16 variants the Japanese are using as fighter jets.
There were A LOT of F-2s (Japanese FSX) which were destroyed in the March tsunami, but they could have brought out some old F-1s or F-4EJs for display...
Also not enough Strike Witches cosplay...

Their display of air power was more successful than American shows of late.
Just wait we're done with Iraq and Libya and we're getting bored with Afghanistan so we'll have another show of power soon enough :(
I wouldn't exactly call a bunch of trainer aircraft "air power." Actually, I don't think I saw a single aircraft in the lot that was outfitted with weaponry. I believe that most of the aircraft featured are generally used for search and rescue operations.
