School Buses: Japan = “Excessively Cute” US = “Tanks”

Chinese have been pondering the differences between the school-buses of Japan, noted for their “extreme cuteness,” as compared to those of the US – described as being “like tanks.”

What these reveal about the respective national characters of their countries is open to rather broad interpretation.
Thomas the Tank Engine and Pokemon themed buses certainly seem likely to be inordinately popular with small children everywhere.
On the other hand, the curious American obsession with driving their children everywhere in aggressively styled yellow rivet-encrusted juggernauts does indeed seem rather more a reflection of the USA’s national character (whether characterised as imbecilic machismo, sensible safety conciousness, or total fear and paranoia regarding child safety)…

The hello kitty bus is the only one which has a tolerable design. The other ones are way over the top, especially those buses trying to look like a train °-_-
Some of them I would have been embarrassed to be seen on as a kid but the space shuttle,whale, trains, and Thomas the tank buses would have been awesome.

Well, it transport childs (5 to 12 years old), so childish look is not too bad but even compreensible.
Not really necessary for kids of those kids ages ranging from 5 - 12 but adults or teens too..

FYI, Hummers may look intimidating, but they crumple like cardboard in an accident. You'd be safer in an SUV, or pretty much anything else.
That's why you buy a military one.

H2s aren't hummers, they're dressed up Chevy Suburbans.
Actually, it's a Chevy Tahoe chassis & drive train with a different body bolted on top. GM did the same thing to make the H3 except that one is just a Chevy Colorado crew cab underneath.

Well seeing as that "Bus" is not mixed schools... that scenario would not happen. Nor would I suspect that those at a prestigious all girls school would be riding in such a mode of public transport.
The better question is if a prestigious all girls school would exist in such a place.
