china-girl-crushing-1.jpg

wang-yue-dies-1.jpg

The 2-year-old girl who was repeatedly run over by Chinese motorists and ignored by no less than 18 people as she lay bleeding in the road has died.

So severe were her injuries that she fell into a coma and was later pronounced braindead, with doctors holding out little hope for her survival.

She finally passed away after lingering several days, with the hospital claiming the cause of death to be “systemic organ failure.”

Meanwhile, the humble rag-picker who dragged her off the road has been feted as a national hero and given $15,000 by corporate benefactors as a reward for her heroic conduct in the face of conceivable risk:

wang-yue-dies-2.jpg

The circumstances surrounding the girl’s death have provoked outrage and revulsion in China, with millions angrily decrying the undeniably wretched moral character of modern China.

Many Chinese have expressed the opinion that Chinese law is so backwards and corrupt and the Chinese people themselves so immoral and treacherous that they would fear to help anyone in need lest they be turned on and held financially responsible for the incident by the person they helped – as has in fact happened in several widely reported cases.

Others have pointed to the flagrant disregard for the most basic standards of ethical behaviour routinely displayed by China’s government and businesses as evidence of a society which simply does not care about individuals or tolerate them acting morally.

However, with all this universal outrage some will doubtless be left wondering where all these kind-hearted Chinese were as the little girl lay dying in the middle of the road after being run over twice.

Aside from the arrest of the two drivers who ran her over, the only official response has been the provincial government mooting a law to force people to help accident victims (seemingly highly unpopular) and calling for suggestions on how to better promote “socialist morals” amongst the people – although an increasingly large body of Chinese appear to be of the opinion these are what got them into this situation in the first place.

Its funny how people kinda have this idea that China is the only place with problems like this.

ITs fucked up and I more then agree that its sad but its not china its the whole human race

about a year ago a girl who was going to a school dance in oakland CA was grabed and rapped behind the school. She was raped and beaten and people who passed by either ignored it or joined in. Someone must have finally called the cops but the reports said it was a while and the girl would be disfigured.

Now sure she lived but humanity is just disgusting.

Maybe instead of just arresting those people who hit the girl all those who just walk by should be held responsible as well, or is that too harsh? Did they see the girl lying in blood and just go O just another morning(night whatever) here in shang hi (lol I dont know how to spell it)

    just how I feel....(maniac depression :D )

People forget about the heroic hobo that saved a woman and subsequently got stabbed to death and left for dead FOR HOURS in the middle of a busy street.

Or the high school girl in meadows creek that got drugged and gang raped by 8 people while a crowd of people were gathering around to see them rape her.

The things is that people always try to give themselves excuses not to help, e.g. "she may deserve it", or "I may get into trouble if I help her", or even "I don't her since I don't know her personally". Humanity is always associated with possitive things, while in the whole history of mankind, many wars had been fought, many people had been killed because of racism, religion, money, oil, land, in the name of freedom, democracy, communism etc. etc.. In a way Humanity should have been called Inhumanity, since human history can be characterized with blood and genocide.

No shit, years ago back when I was still in highschool; there was this infamous case that happened in my capital city where an elementary school kid got stabbed and robbed by an illegal immigrant. After that filthy bastard fled, everyone surrounding the incident just watched the kid bleeding and dying on the ground. Only about half and hour after, someone finally called an ambulance only to find out that he's already dead when the medics eventually arrived.

Well, if the law does come into effect, then it is win-win situation for the official, as if people didn't help, they will get arrected, fined or even blackmailed into paying money to bribing the police to "clear their name"; and if they did help, they will be accused of being guilty of some ridiculous crime which they did not commit, and have to pay money to bribe the police all the same. Clamp down on frivolous lawsuits and add some common sense to the law and you might have something worth pursuing.

Considering how the van ran over the kid from leg to chest, the failing organs are a matter of course, but that old woman took her chances. That's admirable.

I don't like the offering of cash though. As for treating her like a hero, I think the Chinese government simply want to close the lid by giving people 'hope'. I have to agree, giving the lady a reward for her bravery is both a farce and it's counter-productive. It's one thing to slip her that money discreetly, but to take pictures of it and say 'Hey China, if you're brave enough to help people, you'll be handsomely rewarded for it by this dude with the troll face, when we know damn well that country does -not- have the money to reward that kind of mass samaritanism. Once people feel comfortable enough with helping others, they start expecting money at that point, then all of a sudden the government is all like 'Oh good job, but no money for you. Virtue is its own reward.'

Then we go right back to China being a country full of trolls.

She went to look for the kid's parents, that's why she left the child. The reason why she's being regarded as a hero is because she went and did something most of the Chinese mainlanders are afraid to do.

In a country where aiding someone could land you in prison or on the execution list, this old lady challanged it. She deserves the praise. The money on the other hand kind of glamorizes the act. Which kind of overshadows the point, which was this lady could have got herself in deep shit just for even touching the little girl. But she did so anyway and risked being locked up or worse.

BAH, that's what the state run news wants you to believe. They just want to spin this any way they can so they can make it propaganda.

The truth is no reward should be given out period! No one should be feted for this tragedy. The only appropriate response would have been mourning, sorrow, and serious introspection on their society.

Why does the Chinese government need to make a hero out of anyone in this case? What that old woman did (half heartedly really) doesn't really register as anything heroic - it should what is EXPECTED out of any rational human.

Hell, she didn't even really help the kid, just dragged her a few feet before DANGEROUSLY yanking her up and folding her over causing MORE internal damage. Any medical professional will tell you that. It would've been better for her to leave the kid as she lay, comfort the child, while screaming for others to block traffic and get help.

Really though - why the need to fete a hero in this sad tragedy and why a monetary reward? The parents probably could use that money more than anything now.

watch the subtitled version and you will know better.

I wish he would've been there when the train crashed, or the boat sunk... he would've made a difference.

Love Sankaku Complex raging racism and yellow journalism. Leaving out the part where the rag-picker went to inform the mother of the child, who's store was where she left the girl.

Really, should change the story to:

"Others have pointed to the flagrant disregard for the most basic standards of ethical behaviour routinely displayed by Sankaku Complex as evidence of a society which simply does care about individuals or tolerate them acting morally."

If you want proper news, you do not come to SanCom, you read BBC News or the Guardian or something comparable.

BBC isn't the best source, but it's still better than Fox News. Sankaku is equivelant to The Sun and Daily Mail. Sensationalist news that write up to feed it's audience what it WANTS to hear. We all know who the majority are on this site...so yeah. Take what you get here with a pinch of salt, but that applies to every news out there.

Sancom is just a place people who's bitter about the fact the moraly deprived China's getting richer and richer to come and circle jerk.

You don't come here for actual news, just jerk off materials, in more ways than one.

Hush money would be if they were giving it to the parents BEFORE they went to the media.

It's funny to see a so called communist country behave as if it was a capitalist country.

In China everyday we see that money is more important than lives as their citizens are treated as disposable human garbage.
Chinese must grow a conscience and become less self centered to actually grow morally.
    Money is not everything...

The 'rag picker' called for help but the store owners ignored her really =/ She didn't really drag the little girl off the road and left her dead. Artefact's sometimes inaccurate in relaying the message, really. Go to any real news site and it would say it so.
