Japan doesn't only do Final Fantasy you know. The Tales series is ever improving. Demon's Souls and Dark Souls are very high quality. Xenoblade was extremely good.
'JRPGs' are not just one genre, and there's plenty of great stuff coming out of that industry.
The only people who think that Japan's game industry has gone downhill are those mainstream people who only know Final Fantasy and nothing else... and believe Mario and Zelda came from USA.
@01:14 JRPG isn't a genre though. :) It's a lazy term that some stupid journalists came up with a few years ago in order to poke fun at games like Final Fantasy, and it stuck.
Now it's used to stereotype 90% of the RPGS that come out of Japan. I bet you many people if asked would class Final Fantasy 10, Disgaea 3 and Tales of Vesperia all as 'JRPGs', but all three of them play in vastly different ways (FF is a console style RPG, Disgaea a strategy RPG and Vesperia an action RPG). That's the main reason why the term isn't any good as a genre label. :)

23:58, though I agree with you I think you got genre and franchise confused because a game could be categorized as more than one genre(ex: rpg fps) whereas JRPG IS a genre and therefore cannot be more than one genre or its sole purpose is defeated.
I think you need to look up the definition of "genre".
JRPGs have gone downhill but there are a few rare standouts. He is mostly right, FF12 and FF13 were disasters and FF11 was boring as hell.

2nd episode make me laugh till my stomach hurt and tears fall from my eyes this anime is one of the most funny show of the last many years I <3 it :P
Can't wait till the part when they catch Sena playing eroge. Also, one of my fav artists, now you see why.

it's ok to say that you really, REALLY, love the show and place your hopes on it.
but, another extremely different thing is to say that this show is the best in "many years" -as some anon above said, or that is the best of the season.
though i also find myself laughin a lot to this silly romantic comedy, it was very sad to see how much the studio dropped animation quality, after just one chapter. no matter how much you love this show, you cannot deny this.
i just hope this show earns all the recognition fans are giving to it --with a lot of anticipation, btw
or i fear that this will end up like the despicable k-on franchise.
