Persona 4 is lucky if it's even going to finish. According to twitters from the animation staff, more than half of the animators have quit due to not getting paid and being bullied by the animation director.
Apparently, they'll be lucky if they'll even have anyone to draw episode 4. It's going to be like His and Her Circumstances all over again.

That is incredibly unfortunate news... I sincerely hope that they have the wherewithal to break through the issues to give the series the attention it deserves. It is possible, especially if interest is generated and is high enough.
No matter what though, I am really happy to hear the animators standing up for themselves like that. As much as it pains me to think an animation I truly want to see made is in such jeopardy because of it, the professional in me is rooting for them more than anything.
But it's just the game again.
There isn't anything new at all in it. It's like, the other extreme worst thing they could do with the franchise in anime format. First that Persona 3 anime horrorshow, and now Persona 4: The Slideshow. I guess it's still too early to write it off entirely for this, but damn.
There's so much potential, there.

In addition Trinity Soul was a spin-off. Still set in the same universe, but to say that it was P3 would be a falsehood.

I for one, and many others like me, feel that once a story has been told, that there shouldn't be a continuation beyond the conclusion.
I can't bear watching a story that has already reached it's climax in a prior series be reintroduced, revamped, retconned or simply persisted in a new season, which will have the same or similar conclusion as the the previous. It's a waste of time and an insult to viewers. Stop milking it.
i said the same as you, before i got bore to death with the onsen visiting school girls. after the 100th time it geats old really old. so for once i will go with revamps.
It is a different story altogether. It's not reintroduced, revamped, or retconned.
The writer is different, the studio is different, the character is different. Try ep1. If you don't like it still then fair enough

Judging purely by what will be popular, Fate/zero probably should be higher. Judging by quality, though, makes me skeptical of Fate/zero. If it's anything like Fate/stay night then it should stay where it is. Half the worth of any good story is characters, and whoever wrote Fate/stay night did a really poor job with characterization. The only thing that kept me watching the anime version was the plot, and even that wasn't spectacular.
Fate/stay night anime(!) was a crap indeed(it's based on the weakest route in the game an, though the visual novel it's based on is quite much one of the best things I've ever read in my life and it introduced me into the . As for Fate/zero - it's entirely different project based on novel written by Urobuchi Gen (Madoka, Saya no Uta, Phantom) and animated by ufotable (go watch Kara no Kyoukai movies, QUALITY) which did incredible job in every production.
It's like comparing blue sky and earth dirt in terms of animation quality and story ( Fate Stay Night : Fate Zero ).
Different studios, different characters, and FSN is not the strongest story yet, hoping for Fate Heaven's Feel scenario to emerge :) ( with the same quality of Fate/Zero or even higher !! )

Why is persona 4 so low in the ranking?
Probably because the build up to the climax of the first episode was psychological seinen, but the climax itself was entirely action shounen. If it can figure out which genre it wants to fill then maybe it'll get a higher ranking.
Thats the appeal of the persona series in the first place, grim, moody seinen, but with calling attacks, 11th hour power ups, ecchi-lite shenanigans and slice of life drama stuff all thrown in.
