A “Successful” Launch, China Style

Chinese are aghast at the launch of a luxury riverboat which sank during its launch ceremony and was subsequently claimed as a successful launch by the authorities.

The photographs show the launch ceremony of a new luxury river boat designed to offer “5 star” river cruises through the rivers of Gansu province. The ship was built at a cost of several million dollars.

Unfortunately, it sunk during the event, with photographs of the humiliating launch being rapidly circulated online.

The government reportedly announced the sinking as a successful launch anyway, only to be immediately ridiculed online by Chinese with access to photographs of the sunk vessel.

The official response was to claim staff had simply made an error controlling the ship, and to promise an inspection of the vessel “for the sake of caution.”

The ship’s owners can at least take solace in the fact that the vessel did not explode…

At first I thought that ship was, for some unbelievably screwed-up reason, stuck in the ground.

At least someone should had told them that it was an iceberg and not just a self-destruct button that caused it to sunk.

i'm sure they'll blow it up to un-sink it, by the logic that the crater created from the explosion will flood and make the boat float again.

yet another reason for me being to scared to move to china. I think I'd die of some stupid shit like this except my boat would fucking explode and sink into a river that at the same time magically sprung a sewage leak.

I miss old china. Back then ... way back then China was the shit ... now China seems to be shit although i will hand it to them for their rapid growth.

Capitalism is what happened. They can say they're communist all they want, but their economical practise is capitalism. The corrupt government thrives off it. As long as profit is involved, little care is given to anything. This is in turn aggrevates the citizens to do the same thing. If they complain they get targeted. Most already know that their government are assholes.

Majority don't antgonize the state since they already live in comfy enough housing and follows the typical citizen mentality of "I have a roof over my head, have steady income and little to no worry. Eveything else is not my problem. Don't get involved". Which in turn further reinforces the saying "The rich get richer and the poor gets poorer".

Not saying capitalism brings out the worse of the worse. But it's far from perfect as some seems to love suggesting.

    Comment by Anonymous

I wouldn't say capitalism is what happened, I'd say it's generations of communism which is the epitomy of selfishness and people avoiding responsibility for everything. You must not know china very well.

Neither do you it seems. You do realize that China is the epitome of capitalism at the moment right? They have been communist in name only ever since their industrial growth started, but even then with Mao at the reins it was nothing more than capitalism at full force in what little time they were communist.

It doesn't seem like you also understand what communism is either. The ideals of communism outshines anything capitalism thows out. But because it's impossible to put into a consistant effect, it has been a theory and nothing more. So...people advocating communism as the true evils of society is the same as calling out the flying spaghetti monster being the devil out to destroy us. Because it has never been in effect and if it did, it didn't last long before it became somthing else entirely.

Failed communism as one can call it, usually ends up as the extreme of capitalism. They really aren't that different in practice. Methods may differ but not that much for the end result. People seem to also confue captialsm and democracy being the same quite often, though understandable really needs to be corrected.

Fact is communism doesn't even really exist in actual practice. If anyting, it would technically be called "Failed Communism". Which means god knows what they are until some time has passed, at which point China is spearheading the way for what is the core of capitalism. The only ones who would vehmently deny this are generally the tea party and co. If capitalism was a person they would gang bang it till it birthed horrid little deformed munchkins that craps over everything to hides it's smutty side. Capitalism is not the "end of" for a working society and economy. It's just more achievable than communism. Which isn't saying alot.

Yeah, it's hardcore capitalism where the weak have no rights and get exploited by the rich. That's how a country can get rich with most of its people so poor as in China.

They just call themselves communists, but the communism they resemble is not the communism where everything belongs to everyone, but the kind of everything belongs to the government, which is not its people, since it's not a democracy.

It's an example of _unfettered_ capitalism, where there is no counter-balance of power.

Without the counter-balance, big and small capitalists (in other words, *people*) will pollute the air and waters, exploit the workers, etc.
