Mion isn't a yandere girl
When you think about it, Rena isn't much of a yandere either. She needs to get the syndrome and really drown deep into it before she goes psycho.
When not into the syndrome, she's merely smarter than what she shows, and while she has some sort of psychotic reactions when talking about the curse of Oyashiro-sama lightly, that's nowhere near violent enough for a common yandere.
Shion should be 1.
Shion is definitely #1 in terms of being a yandere. Unfortunately the list is "Top 10 cutest yandere" and Rena is definitely cuter in my book.
Without the disease, none of them would be a yandere. Okay, maybe Shion might still be since she's pretty damn wacko but it'll be use as comedy more than anything
But you are right though, Shion is the only one who uses "love" as a excuse to go nuts. Rena has some kind of love rivalry with Mion but that's not what made her crazy. Mion never actually went crazy so she definitely does not count.

Earliest one I know of is Kanako from Love Hina Again, she also was one of the first to have a brother complex.

Yuno was from another earth so when she died her wish was to be reborn in another reality where she could begin the tournament all over again;p She is the VERY DEFINITION of yandere and her not being on this list is an epic fail on the part of sankaku. If your argument for her not being on the list is due to not having an anime that is false caz there was an ova bundled with one of the issues of the manga near the end. Sure she wasn't overly yandere but in the manga oh man... She has no qualm with killing a bitch for even looking at MC

Yup, anime soon, things will change in the easily forgotten minds of the everyday anime/manga viewer. It happens. I hope that they keep everything faithful to the original manga and NOT skimp out on the really violent scenes...
