A Certain Magical Index Movie Announced

The trend for hit anime to receive movie adaptations rather than the more traditional OVAs continues – To Aru Majutsu no Index is now due a movie adaptation as well.
The official site unhelpfully gives no details of release, but the glacial release schedule for such anime obviously suggests some time in 2012.
Most speculation focuses on whether the movie will be an anime original, or merely consume a few more of the vast corpus of light novels the series encompasses, or even whether it will be one of the dread highlight/summary movies which are occasionally released.
The mysterious senses Index fans possess apparently allow them to determine a significant chance of an original movie from the above image alone….

Probably the only thing able to compete with Railgun's Kuroko and Misaka combo. If they make it right then the Index series has a shot of being the more popular one again.
I'll admit, I became a railgun first and index second fan once railgun started airing.
Then the second season of Index hit and was like, "Well, good story and all, but there's just... something off"
For me Railgun wasn't perfect, but it hit a lot of things just right to pull out ahead :D

If they're smart they'll do a season 3 in say summer or fall of 2012 that leads up to the finale of World War 3 (in the novels), and then anime the final two novels as the movie either December 2012 or early 2013. A recap movie would just be really really bad with how much dialog is in these novels.
