Japanese football fans have been outraged at the reception laid on for a Japanese team playing in Korea recently, with a banner goading them by celebrating the deaths of 20,000 Japanese in the recent earthquake and tsunami.
The banner appeared at a recent football match between Cerezo Osaka and a Korean team (which the Japanese team was to lose), held in Korea:
In broken Japanese, it reads “we celebrate Japan’s great earthquake.”
Once match organisers spotted the banner, they ordered it removed.
Whether this is the result of the famed animosity Koreans feel towards just about everyone else or the incredibly crude standards of behaviour the world has come to expect from football fans is not clear – a recent away match a Japanese team played against a Belgian team saw supporters there chanting “Fukushima,” which prompted an official complaint from the Japanese side.
Online there is not much doubt:
“As expected of the filthy Koreans.”
“All you can say is that this is to be expected of them.”
“Koreans, it’s not like you would expect normal conduct from them.”
“Will the Japanese press even report this?”
“Between normal countries this would be a diplomatic incident.”
“You can really tell what kind of people the Koreans are from this.”
“This isn’t even news, it’s just normal for Korea.”
“The original report on this even avoids using the word ‘Korea’ or ‘Korean’ anywhere at all…”
[NB: This is actually true – the report manages to mention Japan and Belgium, and the names of the teams, but completely avoids the matter of which country was involved]
“That’s amazing… they wrote the entire article and headline without mentioning the name of the country once. They are really trying hard.”
“They went to the trouble of translating and writing this, then displaying it during the match. What motivation.”
“In 9 years they have not changed a bit:”
[Both pictures show Korean placards showing funeral photographs of German players, telling them they should lose]
[Hitler’s children go home!]
“Do they really not realise this sort of thing only makes the world hate them?”
“With the Belgian team they officially apologised for it – I don’t see the Koreans doing the same.”
“It’s a mistranslation?”
“How is it a mistranslation?”
“It doesn’t make sense as a mistranslation or misreading.”
“In an earlier match they had a ‘welcome, war criminal nation!’ banner and another one offering ‘bananas for monkeys'”
“I’d be more worried if they actually started expressing sympathy.”
“Koreans acting like Koreans. A good chance for the rest of the world to see what Koreans are like.”
In other news, the Korean government recently approved a private initiative to install a “comfort women” memorial statue next to the Japanese embassy in Seoul, further cementing Korea’s image as a nation of master diplomats.

"In other news, the Korean government recently approved a private initiative to install a “comfort women” memorial statue next to the Japanese embassy"
I see nothing wrong with that. Governments (or whole nations, as seems to be the case with Japan) that decided to stubbornly ignore their past misdeeds need to be continuously reminded of them by the international community, or at least the nations they victimized.
Stubbornly ignoring past misdeeds they do not, they just don't trumpet it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_war_apology_statements_issued_by_Japan
It just seems Korea and China doesn't accept those apologies. I can't even begin to think if the shoe was on the other foot what the peninsula nation that think it invented everything would behave. Would it even offer an apology at all?
Japan has a dualism of recognizing the fault on the international level but refusing to educate the citizens because of lobbying by certain right-wing groups.
And that's not a proper nor mature way of doing it. Embassy is symbole of friendship between the two country. There are proper channels to voice your displeasures on issues. Or hell, just withdraw all diplomatic relantionships if you have the guts. Provoking foreign diplomats are nothing short of childish.
Plugging your ears and going "lalala I can't hear you!" whenever someone tries to confront you on the issue via official channels is just as childish. How do you deal with someone who simply refuses to listen? (Not that the Koreans are any better in this regard, mind you)
Embassies are not a symbol for anything (except maybe an indicator for whether there are diplomatic relations with a country or not). But they're valid targets for the population to direct their (peaceful and non-violent) protest at. Said memorial was a private project, the administration solely didn't refuse the construction permit.
Mee Korean
Mee demanding aporrojuices for comfort wymen
Japan gibbe mony pls
That's a load of BS.
It's like saying black people need reparations for the centuries of slavery they were forced to endure under the oppressions of the Americans. (And other nations around the world including other African nations)
Or the British and Americans for firebombing German cities in WWII simply because they were flammable. (Justified under "Destroying support for war, or more simply, dropping bombs on people's homes so they want peace"
OR reparations for the lives destroyed, homes lost, treaties broken by the Americans to the Native Americans.
Or Chinese reparations to the families of those murdered during the cultural revolution. (Anyone with a high school education or higher was considered an intellectual and killed)
The confederates for the land and property destroyed during the American Civil War. The Union use the tactic of raiding deep into confederate territories and destroying all land and property they could find.
I could go on. But, the point is. I don't see the international communities reminding these nations of their past misdeeds.
I'm korean myself and I really wouldn't know what to do if Japan wasn't here.
@Another Korean:
They are idiots, shit sports fans. Of course, Majority of Korean DO think those things are bullshit. Don't generalise.
agreed. In every nation there are people that are racist and there are people that just want peace.
Is it me or does almost any sporting event that happens usually brings out the worse in people?
Beijing Olympics - No need to explain really other than the West going full force into hypocrisy.
Generic Football Match (Home, Away, International) - Yeah...there's this and a certain match between Japan and USA.
Rugby/American Football - The fans get into more bodily contact than the freaking players on the pitch....Ok that kind of sounded wrong.
You name any sport and I'm confident that some kind of prejudice, racist, sexist or whatever -ist would be involved at some point in time either insulting or causing costly damage to everything in path. I mean really... there's supporting your team and there's going batshit crazy.
sports is weird
I'm Japunese myself and I really wouldn't know what to do if Korea wasn't here.
If Korea wasn't there then the geography as Japanese wants it would be half the distance.
Is there a Japrean or Kopanese?
Yes there are. Despite what the internet may say about the Koreans or the Japanese, not all of them hate each other. It's just the few extreme ones that stand out.
@06:45
You seem to be from 2ch.
Korea hates Japan for the same reason China hates Japan. Imperial army fucked up Japan reputation in Asia for life. Sad part being I respect Imperial Japan more than modern Japan. At least they had balls back then...
All the dumb shit that the Japanese do, and the shit they did in the past makes Korea and its citizens hate the Japanese.

You have both posted truth, and I applaud the two of you for not being stupid uneducated weeaboo's like most of Sankaku's inhabitants here.
You guys are also forgetting US facebook users did something similar, though not in such a grand fashion.
At least security got the banner down, those users didnt.
Koreans are taught modern history, a modern history where their grandmothers were raped by Jap soldiers & their grandfathers were forced to watch. [Where's the NTR doujin?!]
After that, Japan omitted the whole event from their own text books, treated Koreans in Japan as 2nd class citizens and pulled off a number of other incidents that have done nothing to improve relations between the two nations.
Not that an obvious weeaboo would even acknowledge their holy land and its citizens could even be guilty of censoring history, racism and generalized xenophobia.
Koreans are taught to hate Japan.
Japan hates Korea from all the endless dumb shit that the Koreans do.
Write a placard in the game
"Kim Jong-il's Weapon's Testing Planner list:
Torpedo...Target:South Korean battleship...Check
Artillery Shells...Target:South Korean Island...Check
Nuclear Missiles...Target:Seoul...Up Next!"
@ the korean and japanese guy above
You guys can try to stop trolling each other maybe and learn to be friendly... I'm korean american myself and have many japanese friends here, one my best friends is a japanese guy and we work together on fixing up our cars--it's fun. I've also dated many japanese girls and when I go to hang out with friends there is many japanese people in my group.
Also don't think its just because we're american, some of them have come from japan recently within a few years and all I can consider to be my friends.
Actually, all this hostility is actually a new thing to me I learn about on sankaku complex website. Anyways if you want to focus on negativity then of course that is what you get but you guys are missing out on fun times :)
I'm American myself and think you're both insignificant.
Typically American sentiment.
>believes in religion
faggot detected
That's why your going to hell.
+1
And even in hell I'll be American and those two will still be insignificant.
you realise if the south Korrian fans keep this up if the north grows a sack and invades when the south requests aide ppl will just be like "Meh that;s a shame"
Yes, Japan has the capacity to give aid...
if they created a utopia why the fuck would they want to invade our shitty country.
no but seriously this country is shit.
And a military budget twice the size of that of the ROK.
Not that much aid would be needed as the KPA solders would likely stop fighting after seeing that starvation isn't the world standard once entering southern territory.
Unless of course all we hear about the north is capitalist propaganda and the north managed to actually create utopia...
"Korrian" lol jk
Not if the North will NUKE EM before they could ask for help so R.I.P.(Rest into Pieces) South!
If they nuke anyone, it would be Japan, no?
Going by how North Korea seems now, they'd probably accidentially nuke themselves.
nah, Japan's second on their list after Seoul gets rocketed, bombed, and nuked.
North Korea won't nuke Seoul [at least not first]. They've spent too many years bromancing their brothers to the south, to attack their own land. And it worked so well that there and South Korean sympathizers who believe the whole Korean War was instigated by America. And that they should be one nation, while completely unaware conditions in the North are far worse than East Germany, before the fall of the Berlin Wall. Nor did they learn what a sudden influx of dirt poor peasants did to West Germany's job market immediately following that event.
@Anon 23:24
It will be Seoul that will be nuked first because it is the place the North Koreans can reach first.
More starcraft? I mean you just lost one of your national pastime entertainment - insulting Japan.
You'd be as bored as they are if it wasn't here.
No one to troll, no one to blame, no one to dump loads of bullshit on. Oh the humanity!
wow bro, not cool or funny.
butthurt jap worshiper
Looks like anon's sarcasm meter is broken...
They can have fun with Taiwan too.
FUCK YOU FILTHY KOREAN BASTARD! YOU AND YOUR DISGUSTING KOREAN SHOULD DIE!
You might need some pill.
There are always thoughtless retards like this ruining and creating problem for everyone else...
Yes, I am a Korean and I think this is embarrassing and very childish. These fellas better learn some manner and respect or I hope they are screwed from getting jobs next decade with these images spreading all around the internet :)
Oh please! Football fans are retards no matter of time and space.
