it was stated that takeshi obata (Death Note and Bakuman illustrator) was his mentor, yet he only got a measly rank A (well its not bad, but it's definitely deserves better than masashi kishimoto)

to be fair he does has an amazing grasp of perspective, the only problem with his art now may be from being burned out but he still has to churn out the chapters and get the job done. He has to choose what lines he uses and which ones he chooses not to but as long as you can tell who's who there really is no problem.

you can say perspective this-perspective that, but every expression the character made is too 'hard' and character design is not that creative.

i disagree with Kishi-sensei's S rank, but if you bother to go look for his illustrations you'll see a huge amount of detail in things like cityscapes and buildings. plus he freely uses both japanese and western elements in his art as well as "traditional" japanese visual elements in the series overall. naruto isn't tiring to look at like some other manga (toriko for instance sometimes looks like it was done on ms paint). i'd personally give him an A.
that being said however i disagree with where they put akamatsu and the author of nurarihyon. negima should be about b rank seeing as it's nanoha quality + freezing ero. nurarihyon is naruto (or at least shaman king) taken seriously. it's funny, most of what i see in nurarihyon is heavily ukiyo-e inspired, but they gave it such a low rank.. shows what a lot of people think about art i guess. :|
Think of the 'S' Rank as the rank where they put the subjective, their-favourite manga. Then from A onwards is the actual ranking of manga based on how well they're drawn.
According to your logic, One Piece should be on S rank then.

Oh how much I disagree! Naruto art S rank? While Kawashita Mizuki, Yabuki Kentaro are so far down?
Ironically those were the two placings that bothered me most. Yabuki Kentaro and Kawashita Mizuki are two of the best prodigy artists out there, not to mention how amazing Kawashita is at storytelling and Kentaros ability to make anything sexy. These artists make every character look and feel good, they should be the S classes here.
IMMEDIATLY after I opened this I scanned it for Yabuki, he deserves his own fucking rank. Ill give Kishimoto what I can only call consistency but to be above Yabuki?

The artists for D. Gray Man and Reborn need to be ranked higher. Sure they didn't start out all that great, but their art has vastly improved. Naruto should be no means be that high because the art and character designs aren't anything above average.
Also, if we're just talking about art, Yu Watase and CLAMP should be on this list. CLAMP has some works that are better than others but the art styles of CCS, Chobits, and Tsubasa were good. And maybe Yu Watase's works are too old to make the list but I've always liked her layouts. (Maybe it's the fact that all her characters look the same from series to series.)

The book may suck, but the art doesn't. I think his real strongpoint is complex expressive emotions with minimal line work.
