Tattoo Removal, Japanese Style

A 24-year-old housewife’s desire to remove an ill-advised shoulder tattoo of her cat has resulted in a shockingly grotesque scene – so much so that many were left wondering just what the doctors were thinking.
Although getting rid of such an awful tattoo is an understandable desire, just why slicing off the unfortunate lady’s shoulder (presumably to be replaced by a graft from elsewhere) was considered preferable to simple laser removal treatment is not explained.
Given Japanese attitudes towards tattoos (only vile criminals get them) and personal indiscretions (best atoned for with a pointlessly extreme gesture up to and including suicide), an element of sadism or masochism does not seem out of the question, and Japanese TV certainly seems to be revelling in the grisly result.
Japanese TV gives repenting tattoo victims the full “anonymous victim/criminal” treatment, claiming most of the women who get tattoos regret them after marriage, as they find themselves banned from various public places and risk stigmatising their children:

Well, apart from nuclear meltdowns, it would seem like Japan is also suffering from intellectual meltdowns.
just watch the latest late night animes and you will take that as a fact
Yeah, different culture and everything, but I cannot understand how anyone can associate a (poorly drawn) cartoon cat with organized crime.
i only have one thing to say: that doctor is a fucking dumbass and should be sued for medical negligence.
I agree, but I believe you mean malpractice.
Lolicon mafia?
more like the lolcat mafia
DO WANT!!!!
This comment made me think over an otaku-themed yakusa...
It was awesome.
you don't know the nekomata's is a notorious gang in japan lol
I heard they cheat to get to level 9999.
yea the Yakuza ink is actually really nice looking
So tattoo or disfiguring scar....
tattoo, scar...hmm
you can do things like insert a balloon under the skin inflate it until you have enough skin to replaced the lost skin and no scar.
Eoooowwww!
Some people have scar fetishes... Myself included.
But tattoos are like coloured scars...
You could tattoo a scar, everybody wins.
scars on your soul.
ya, scars can be hot =P
one name: Balalaika. nuff said
I can't get tattoos on my arms due to the number of scars. I prefer the scars and regularly make new ones.
Yaranaika? XD
scar is cooler, it's a win you can pass as a war hero, or a suicidal depressive maniac.
scar, ez
does harry potter have a tattoo?
he used to have a hello kitty in his forehead.
haha, 10p to you.
i'm not much of a fan of tattoos but replacing one with a giant scar from cutting out a big piece of skin seems kind of stupid to me
It is stupid esp when half the procedures used were surprisingly primitive it was looking back to the 1950s and even then they still had better options then excision for small tattoos.
She should have flew to Europe or the US to get it removed. Yes it would be expensive but at least you won't look like a victim of a shark attack.
primitive, yes but no less primitive thatn getting tattoos in the first place.
having a tatto has nothing to do with being primitive or not. That's just showing your ignorance about the topic.
Tatoos among many others are "fashion", fashion is a social way of adaptation. This adaptation comes from the subconcious, and works like culture, in the very same way. And abviously it's irrational as most of the subconcious's tendencies.
So tatoo or not. It just denotes the social enviroment that person comes from.
I, myself, am againts using a tatoo, because as it's just fashion, hence irrational, it's a awste of money for something that doesn't venefit me in anyway. But doesnt mean i would ban them just for that. instead i would make propaganda agains it so that next generations' children wouldn't want to have a tatoo.
Don't ban, teach....
8.29 here
well if you want it as a kind of art then i have no problem but it's dificult to diferentiate ART from SOCIAL DEPENDENCY, at least with tatoo.
how do u know if someone has a tatoo as a way of self expression, of just because everyone in the neightborhood has one.
the best option would be to teach people how to diferentiate between what you want and what people make you want.
and as for the manga, i think it's a necesity as for the lack of "girls like you want" i want to see you after 2 years without a fuck. And also isnt it a kind or art too?
its a waste of money in anyway you look at it, but if you want to call it art then whatever. The only way it woulnd't be a waste of money would be if you consider the subjective part, a it would be leasening your disire for one....art is a subjective idea, that's why i don't have problems wth it if it's art, but then again, diferentiate between the two.

fashion tattoos are stupid.
however many tattoos mean something to the people who get them, no one else will get them when they see it, but they will.
i kind of want to get one on my back, just words though, kind of like an ongoing biography of my life, a few sentences every year with all the major events written down
8:29 are you actually serious? Propaganda to "teach" people not to get tattoos? You DO realize that many people use them as an expression of self, right?
Tell people not to paint, not to write stories, and not to play music, while you're at it. Those are "wastes" of money when it comes down to it. One doesn't "need" to use paper from a perfectly live tree to draw the manga that you so needlessly jerk off to, do they?
You must be the type that agrees with the banning of people with tattoos in the public. What you define "primitive" might not be for some other people. In reverse what you do yourself might be considered primitive by other people, you just don't think that way.
You know, the whole idea of inking is not primitive. Got one myself ofc and thought a bit about it.
Saying that branding yourself with a tattoo (such as my Phoenix for example) is barbaric is inane - simply because it is a cultural reference.
On the other hand, getting a picture of a hooker or the like is in bad taste. But that is all it'll ever be; bad taste.
I'd admit that Tribals are ill cultured however. The name says it all.
Is not that, they remove some skin and sew it together. After time skin expand so they can cut some more and sew together.
Like face lift - remove excess skin so you look younger.
anything is better than looking like lowlife trash
You clearly have no idea what some of us tattoo.
'WE do'
Don't you group everyone here together with you, moron. You're the god damn minority here.
We do, that's how we know you are lowlife trash
China qualit... err...
I'am happy that my Cirno tattoo was made by a pro and that im a dirty forgeiner
Hope it looks better than your avatar.
Well yeah it's thankfully not the Cirno Cancer version.
But i could thing about that on a rather unvisited part.
Light and pastel color inks cannot be removed by laser. In those cases, the only solution is to remove the skin and let it stretch back between treatments, which can be numerous depending on area and location.
Not much fun.
All the more reason to consider pastel colors as an aesthetic offense!
glad they didn't get their penises tattooed
Actually it would be no problem. I saw a quick article about a circumsized man who attatched weights to his penis skin and regrew his foreskin. if ya cut it off it can always grow/stretch back. it just takes time
Only if your using 40 year old technology an ecimer laser can deal with this.
Then there's the method used before lasers dermabrasion and cryo therapy.
You learn something new everyday :O
