Appreciative moeblob fans have been heaping praise on the newly released K-ON! movie trailer – as might be expected, fans consider it to have the unmistakable air of a major hit about it.

By now it should come as no surprise to hear that someone has already identified the seat numbers the girls are occupying on their flight over (“56ABC & 57AC”), and of course the type of plane (a JAL Boeing 777-300ER) – more devoted otaku are already discussing the battle which they expect over reserving the seats for their own flight over.

And I accidentally read the "Boeing" part as "Boing," despite the fact that 95% of the K-ON! cast is flat-chested.

I'm reasonably confident that owning your own 777-300ER would make it, by definition, not a JAL airplane...
Some airplanes that have been de-commissioned over the years, get bought in America all the time... Imagine in 50 to 100 years, when this particular aircraft is on the ground for good? Someone might buy it on the cheap, then do it up to look k-on like....
in 50 - 100 years there wouldn't be any more k-on fans since they're life support ( parents ) are gone by then.
K-on 12 by that point the school would be paved over.
I'm sure most of them at least checked the price. If they all pooled their money, they might be able to afford one.

One of the reason why I must watch the movie!
I asked a friend who knows a lot about aviation regarding this... here's his very long reply:
With the small bit of research I've done, the Otaku are right on the money . . . almost.
Indeed JAL currently serves LHR daily with a 773 out of NRT, and the seat assignments are correct as well as there is only one row with two coach seats. I don't think Otaku will have any problem reserving these seats . . . as they are dead last in coach in an rather undesirable section directly in front of the last bulkhead where the lavs and galley are located. Additionally they will be loud as they are located aft of the engines, they'll be the last to deplane, will get limited recline, and they'll probably get sick from the excessive yaw as the 773 is rather long.
However, the aircraft in the trailer can't be a 777-300ER, instead I think its a 777-200ER. The plane in the picture obviously has the "new" JAL tsurumaru livery, which was rolled out late 2010 and implemented in early 2011. However to my knowledge, no 777-300ER has been given the new livery just yet, far as I can tell all still sport the old "arc of the sun" livery or the JAL "eco" livery. Some may be in the paint shop now, but I'm guessing JAL is waiting until they need a heavy checks to worry about re-painting their fleet (makes sense,since domestics accumulate cycles quicker). I think only a few if their domestic configured 777-200 have gotten the new livery anyways, I can't recall seeing any international 777-200ERs with the new livery.
But then again, this has to be 777-300ER, since the 777-200ER has an extra set of 2 seats at the rear on the left side, you can see them in this picture.

So I guess no one is right . . . or else the movie takes place in the future, or Mugi's family owns a 777-300ER and has rights to the tsurumaru livery.

I must agree that of all the seats in the plane they have pick some of the worse. 57A and 57C does have limited recline and everyone runs into 56C as they leave the toilets. I have been in any of those seats in a JL 4 class 773 but I have flown in 45C on a EK 4 class 773 and you get people leaning against your seat while waiting to go to the toilet. Looking at the picture, Ritsu seems the be the luck girl who will get to have strangers rubbing up against her as they pass by on the way to the toilets.
At least the outbound flight is a day flight. They don't have to worry about trying to get to sleep.
Am looking forward to the movie as much as everyone else. K-On! is just pure unadulterated, innocent, carefree fun.

Does that even count as a valid argument when Kyoto Animation poured so much animated nuance into the original material that the anime kind of stands on its own? Just like one of my other favorites they did in Nichijou.

Funny thing, I love Takashi Murakami too.
I just think Kyoto Animations puts so much into the actual 'animating' part of the show, that it is on another level than many moe shows. Not that other moe shows are bad though.
