as all the lists on sankaku
Fuck this list!
At least Endless Eight served to show how Nagato suffered during the 15 thousand times that the events were repeated. And we suffered that much with eight times...
I kind of agree with a lot of these, especially Endless Eight, K-On (not so much because of it, but what it represents and popularized), that season of Minami-ke, and Tsukihime. The rest I either don't have much of an opinion on or have never seen.
Same here, i though Sankaku would troll about this as well, but i don't understand why they would choose K-ON?
Endless Eight, that WAS endless torture. After watching 'em all (possibly because I could miss something) I just now admit it was a complete waste of time. =)
If they had just compressed it down to 2 or 3 episodes it would have been tolerable, but eight?!
Jeez!
Don't know what kind of this crap ranking about anime shouldn't be happen? It should be include Blade of Immortal with 13 only episodes not cool ending though so read the manga to continue.
I liked Endless Eight. It was something different.
Aren't the problem it was too much of a same? ;)
And it might have been new in anime, but defenetly not new in movies/tv shows. And why NEVER it been so long? Becouse it's fucking stupid...
I'm with Anon 6:18 up there. I watched all of Endless Eight and I liked it; it was something of a slog, but it was a clever way of getting the audience into the same situation as the characters, and the animation in some of the episodes was utterly superb. That said, I can understand why people who were watching it as it aired, waiting weeks for a new episode, would be displeased.
"AI RAHHHVV YU!" eight different ways... XD
@anon 6:27
well, that was just one of the problems, but yes, it was too much the same. For all the times Nagato kept saying that certain events were left out a large number of times, why is it that we more or less kept getting the same fucking events for all 8 episodes? Though, the animation was different in each episode, but that served to piss the audience off even further since it was proof that KyoAni could damn well make new material but were deliberately trolling people. Let's not forget the fact that 8 episodes is more than half a season, and what was once a very short story in the novels has now become, as of this point, the longest-running saga in the anime. Many were also pissed over this cutting into any potential for Disappearance getting an adaption at first, but the movie hopefully made up for it (albeit it did come out months later).
The worst part is, for me at least it ruined the entire franchise, which to that point had been one of my favorites. I have the first season on DVD and every once in a while I'd watch it all in one sitting just cuz if I was bored on a weekend. Now, though, I can't even do that now because I keep thinking of Endless Eight.
It's especially a shame because I liked the original light novel version of it since you only saw one loop, so it was entirely the anime's fault.
Blaming the rest of the franchise for this isn't anyone's fault but your own, by the way. The mistake that was Endless Eight is a self-contained element, and it turns out I actually skipped one episode and didn't realize it ^^ Either way, just recognize that you're feeling betrayed by something that has no way of betraying you. If you already know it was meant to be handled in a single loop, then you already have the means to know that it wasn't the mistake of the franchise, but of the director.
K-on!! being on this list though just makes me kind of facepalm. I actually want more K-on. I enjoy watching them play around. It's no different than Azumanga Daioh or any of the other random-ass episodic anime out there. I can't even imagine the day when these idiots actually realize that they have the power to just not watch things they don't want to see.
And Madoka is a double-edged sword. The series was only memorable because of its very present and unpredictable drama. Remove those aspects, and it's just a magical girl anime. The darkness was the only real twist.
As they say, sometimes it only takes one bad experience to sour you on an entire franchise. For those of us who were watching the episodes as they came out, there was no way to no how long they had planned to keep going with that. To have been strung along for two months, keeping on with it for love of the franchise and wanting to see other parts of the story animated only to be spit on, yes that is the fault of the director. However, the blame isn't solely with him. Nor is it with the fans who wanted to see a good adaptation of a novel they quite liked only to be trolled and have over half the season wasted. Ultimately, the original author is responsible for how his story is adapted. Just as, for instance, if you had a bad experience at a beach it may sour you on beach visits in the future, sometimes just part of a show may ruin the whole series for you. You can see that in a lot of the entries on this list.
As far as K-On, well, it is different from those shows in that it's not really funny. While they're all slice-of-life, the other shows are "slice of life with crazy hijinx and jokes", while K-On is just "cute girls existing." It's not that people are idiots and watching things they don't want to see, but rather that because K-On existed and is so popular, the market is utterly flooded with moeblobs at the expense of every other genre. I don't watch reality shows, but my problem with them isn't that they exist, but because they're 90% of what's on television nowadays. If Survivor never having aired meant there would be much more variety and quality in television today, you bet I'd wish it never existed.
And as far as Madoka...well, I think it's less about the series and more about it's rabid fans, and how overrated it is.
Arc spanning filler material in general can be quite frustrating, especially when the series itself may not be particularly long.
Playing about with the episode or plot order can be similarly off-putting; i just recently started watching Haruhi, following the 'Kyon' sequencing and opening with the film project. I thought i'd somehow managed skip episodes and mix the order up myself; it was only after i checked that i realised the director had done it for me.
I can't disagree with you about reality shows, personally. I find those who enjoy the majority of them to be as dumb as the shows themselves (and I must admit, watching one episode of Repo Games makes it exceptionally difficult to not be racist), however there is something that should be recognized, and that's the flow of the desires that people have. If you follow the nature of the world, you'll see the ebb and flow of how our literature and media evolves based on our situation.
For example, in America back in the 70s and 80s, that tumultuous time brought about a lot of 'one man taking on army' hero level events. Vietnam and Korea and the dissolving of our national unity lead to the Hero overflow. In the late 80s and 90s, people began getting sick of it, and the 90s birthed a more intellectual hero suspense approach since we were sick of simplicity in heroes and villains, and comedy movies balanced them out like "Coming to America." Now in the 2000s, that continued for a bit, but you could see the fantastical element being brought back in, started by the Matrix and solidified by Lord of the Rings' return, around the turn of the millenium. You have recognition of elements outside ourselves having influence, but less like the gods of greek myth, and more like humanity discovering its powers beyond itself.
These days, with the world just perpetually acting like it's trying to shake us off, many people are recognizing they just want to have fun with friends and enjoy life in its simple elements and slow things down. And K-on exists for those reasons. The High School Life boom is not so much an abnormality, but a nostalgic draw. And these days, life is complicated enough without having world-destruction shows all over the place. Sometimes there is just a beauty and charm to enjoying watching friends being friends on a bad day.
So don't worry. You'll still get your "Breaking Bad" and "Walking Dead" on top of the reality shows to keep the balance, and anime is the same way. Just watch what you want and be patient. The world will shift again shortly.

That introduction is one of the reasons Haruhi is one of the greatest series to me. It's unfortunate that such a brilliant choice when airing the first season was countered by such a catastrophic failure when airing the second. Making you actually have to notice things and piece together what was happening in the movie episode with some pretty obvious clues, but clearly not holding your hand, was absolutely brilliant, because not only did you get to know the characters through how they acted badly and responded to the bad acting, but it was just hilarious how perfect all the random things going 'wrong' in the background fit something you'd totally see in amateur movies.
nah, after the second episode it was pretty obvious to tell how many episodes they were going to make it. Anyone telling themselves otherwise was just living in fantasy land, sad to say...
Watching the first, second, and 8th episode was more than enough to get the "whole" experience of all 8 episodes.
Good thing, I hadn't finished it, dropped halfway, saved some time.
endless eight was awsome in the novels but in the anime was just a waste of time, maybe 3 episodes for the arc but 8?!!
wouldnt be endless eight if it was only 2 or 3 eps then would it.. it'd be endless 2, which just sounds gay
The eight refers to the month of August.
if i remember the name of the arc in the novel is endless august
But that was the whole point of the endless eight. To piss you off so that you realise how pissed off Nagato was when she had to go through that over 100,000 times. It also partly explains why she did what she did in Disappearance
I actually kind of agree. I enjoyed Endless Eight because I was "WTF" all the episodes, and spotting different things about each one. I never read the books so I was looking for clues in the anime itself, as I didn't know what was going to happen. I remember watching at first, thinking it was a repeat, then seeing different outfits or something different. It was a unique change to most other anime. I'm not going to say I'd want others to follow, but I'm not going to discredit it for literally punching you in the face for 6 episodes of nearly the exact same content.
tsukihime anime was a trash compared to the visual novel, but the same happened to fsn. Loled at the last ep of eva showing 2 times in the list, but have to agree that "death and rebirth" + "the end of eva" maked eva god tier once more
I never understand people who are willing to punish a show just because of their biased look at the fanbase.
Just say it like it is. You're being unfair about it. If all that extra buzz and popularity puts you off, just try to put that aside somehow.
"10. Kurenai
11. Jewelpet Sunshine"
Poo. Those shows were decently popular too, I thought. Including Gundam Seed Destiny where all the haters obviously watched it all through as well. Oh well. All the hate and internet circus won't stop me from watching and enjoying what I watch.
yea meng... i watched seed and seed destiny all the way through, and i was like... .what the fuck this is awesome
that was until i actually started watching anime, and then i realized just how fucking bad the director had made the show
same with naruto
gundam 00 was even worse, its popular but pretty fricking bad
"most fans can agree"
fuck you sankaku. stop making lists.
if you don't like it don't look at them, I like this list it's quite accurate.
Quite accurate? By what standard? Most of the entries are entire series. You can just *not watch them* so wishing they never happened is just a (fortunately impotent) wish to screw those who did like it.
I can understand some of the entries about just a few horrible episodes in otherwise good series though. If anyone ever asks me about Endless Eight, I'll reply that nobody knows where Alesia is.
Sancocku translates lists made elsewhere.
agreed anon...lol some ppl just wanna rage though..most of these lists aren't exactly representative of the population, and even if they were, there would be haters anyways.

these lists aren't made by Sankaku... Please read
They should have just put Gundam since the UC timeline is is the majority of the series and a lot of the AC stuff is (Seed) is just a retelling of the original.
it's gundam unicorn.
When they say gundam UC, they mean Gundam UniCorn
WTF @ Gundam UC being on that list. O_o
People just have no taste
I've enjoyed Unicorn so far. Granted the wait between each episode release is annoying but that's only because I really want to see what happens next XD
The wait for episode 4 has been painful, I cannot wait to see it. -_-
I kind of liked Macross 2...
Personally I wish most modern anime hadn't happened. Anime has gone from being full of great sci-fi, horror, and high concept stuff to a seemingly endless line of school dramas full of panty shots of nearly naked infants. Really quite disturbing.

Wut? The new Hunter X Hunter is not even out yet and figured in this list! wtf?
Fanboys weep because the seiyuus are new!
fanboys are scary.
Fanboys who go too far aren't scary, they are just extremely sad to look at.
Nah, they are kinda cool.
Have you heard the rumors? summarization of the first arc, massive censoring and Hisoka personality will be changed a lot.
I could forgive the first two, but changing Hisoka is unforgivable.
wtf, are you serious? I hated the idea of a remake, but now I want to protest so hard.
When I look at what they did to Toriko then I believe those rumors...
CHANGING HISOKA!?
Wha... WHY!? I cant even...
