Scandal stricken seiyuu Aya Hirano has announced her new agency (“Grick”) and pledged a new fan club after closing her old one – but soliciting names from her “fans” on Twitter may not have been the brightest of ideas…
She went so far as to acknowledge the least offensive of the suggestions (“Aya Style” from her famous bikini blunder and “Lifeliners” from her “fans are my lifeline” speech, as well as chirpy quote from her post-scandal quit announcement):
“I’ve got to think up a name for my new FC, it’s pretty tough… I have to think something up soon!”
“Lots of fans were kind enough to send suggestions – if you have any, tag it and send it over please!”
“As expected, AYA STYLE came up.”
“And yes, Lifeliners also got suggested. Are you being serious with me?”
“Your kind suggestions may or may not be used – thanks everyone.”
Not surprisingly, asking 235,000 of what appear to be the Twitter equivalent of ambulance chasers to submit these names may not have been well advised – though at least she did not ask 2ch:

In other news, the level of harsh treatment meted to Hirano by her old agency seems to suggest more than a little acrimony – not only are they the prime suspect in leaking her sex photos in the first place, they have apparently forced her to abandon her old fan club and even stripped her of her old official domain, which now helpfully redirects all her traffic to Yahoo.
Rumours of her having been humiliatingly forced to grovel on the floor in front of her old agency’s staff in the traditional Japanese fashion, by way of atonement for sexually exploiting her band, seem increasingly believable.

I still like her as a seiyuu but she does kind of bring this on herself. I mean, maybe she was being serious and all asking about names, but really. After all that just happened? I still support her though. I love that forehead. Plus, it doesn't affect me anyway what she does. She voiced her roles that I enjoyed, and for that, I am happy.
I've never watched any anime where she voiced a character, they're not my genre, but I agree with your point of view.

You mistake my jabs. In no way do I want to forget her or see her forgotten. The work ethic you say is 'bad' is better than most people you will ever meet. She is a seiyuu and wanted to expand herself and tried as much as she could, but perhaps she pushed herself too much and spread herself thin. Most people you know will stick to their jobs that they hate because they're weak-willed and 'comfortable' rather than being what they can be.
Only pathetic failures blame others for trying and failing, and those are the people who hate Aya for trying. If she continues to make the same mistakes now, however, then she will prove that she hasn't learned much. I just hope that she will take a lesson and move forward.
But I will be her Forehead Trooper/Defender as long as she keeps trying her best :P

I still fail to see why that's actually so much of a problem. It wasn't... until it was made one. It's not like she could get ahead by sleeping with them. It's all that 'purity' bullshit that 2ch has imposed on idols and seiyuu. So I don't honestly count that against her at all. As far as I'm concerned, it's pretty funny for her to just completely violate that and prove that women can like sex too. They can't even fathom it and think she's evil or something.
Either way, it's not very professional I guess to sleep with band mates, but... if we didn't know about it, then would it ever have made a difference?
It wouldn't have made a difference at all but I don't blame her for needing a release though. She's gone through a lot and still has much to go through. No doubt this has done damage to the Haruhi Suzumiya franchise. Fans have already said they didn't want someone like Aya to "taint the purity of Haruhi" or some BS, never mind if she's good or bad at acting. So there's that to deal with, at least.

Well, While I do not care to read about Hirano and people hating her for no aparent reason, I must say; Artefact, we'd surely read news from any other seyuu.
Knowing just what kind of dull news they generate and how it is received when we do post it, I rather doubt you would... it is no exaggeration to say that none of them say or do anything as remotely interesting as the antics of Hirano - she comprises more entertainment value than the rest of them put together, in fact.
A few seiyuu articles along the lines of 'Seiyuu: "I love my fans and please buy my latest album"' would see you begging for the return of the Aya, I'm sure.
She can do what she wants, that's for sure.
The problem is, she didn't keep the end of her bargain and lost her assets as a 'pure idol' image she is supposed to maintain as agreed when she signed the contract with the agency. Even Disney stars has similar contract obligations. She got fired, plain and simple.
The same thing ruined Charlie Sheen and Tiger Woods, just different situations. Price of fame, as some would say.
