Between the usual scores of birthday cakes and hundreds queuing to get some birthday items, it seems even the birthdays of the least popular K-ON! characters are now major events on the otaku calendar.
Some limited edition Ritsu trinkets distributed on her birthday also saw hundreds (at least 320 by 6AM…) queuing in the rain, with some camping out all night to guarantee the acquisition, whether out of rank obsession or simply an intense desire to hawk them on Yahoo! Auctions for megabucks…

The only thing more off putting than the sheer fanaticism over a boring forced moe anime with surprisingly little music despite it's appearance, is the fact that they're doing all this for the sake of it's most annoying character.
little music? there's like 80 songs for K-on (that's not including any background music or anything)
True, but the show itself puts very little emphasis on their work toward the band, at least the first season does.
Ritsu may not be my favorite K-On character, but I like her FAR more than Yui. Yui is the only character of that show I actually didn't like.

It's quite possible to know the name Ishihara without spending all of one's time on Sankaku, considering that the Bill 156 story's been reported on other sites like animenewsnetwork, and discussed on most major anime forums.
