Aya Hirano & Yamakan = “Ultimate Troll Combo”

Anime fans are aghast at seeing the two most controversial figures (or “biggest trolls” as some would have it) in the anime world join forces – scandal seiyuu Aya Hirano is now a follower of washed up director Yamakan.
For those not following his recent career, after his triumph with Haruhi, Yamakan has become widely ridiculed online – having squandered his reputation in a variety of provocative Internet exchanges, only to then become a laughing stock with the abject failure of Fractale, upon which he staked what was left of his reputation.
From the “idiot detector,” as Twitter is increasingly known to 2ch:
Yamakan: Oh! I got followed by Hirano!
Hirano: Dropping the honorifics are you!!
Yamakan: In that case, it’s Hirano-chan.
Yamakan: Sounds a bit like Hirame-chan, doesn’t it? [a character from the manga Jarinko Chie]
The online reaction to this conjunction of dark powers:
“The ultimate troll combo!”
“Uwa! They’ve already been having secret liaisons…”
“Hirano must be grateful to Yamakan – however you look at it, Haruhi was a success because of him.”
“Yamakan has probably already done her.”
“They are a good match for one another really.”
“Does this mean we finally get a second season of Lucky Star?”
“Twitter specialists have to be on good terms as they have nothing else.”
“They have both been abandoned by the anime world…”
“She sure knows how to get ahead using her bed!”
“With all his bluff and bluster it seems he’s now out of favour with industry types. Now he has Aya…”
“So it’s to be flamewar marketing?”
“This pair can put on the ultimate Twitter performance.”
“She really loves men with no future…”
“It’s good that a pair of failures can get on so well.”
“Are the lifeliners still breathing?”
“There aren’t any left…”
“Yamakan and Hirano, two personages reunited in ruin. Well, I suppose it’s beautiful in a way.”
“True fans boost you even when you are on your way down!”
“Get on with Kannagi season 2!”
In other news, after glibly ignoring the scandal at her heels and nipping off to attend an event in Taiwan where she correctly wagered that her uncontroversial “Hirano = Haruhi” image still held sway, she returned only to tweet of her dismay at finding herself locked out of her own blog, saying she was looking forward to being able to make a “big announcement” in the coming days – though likely just the details of her new agency.
Whether this was merely the result of transient technical problems or some final spat with her agency is not clear – although it seems probable even a change of agency will not solve her image problems, and associating herself with the second most controversial figure in the anime business certainly will not…

fractale was a failure? i thought it was pretty fucken awesome.
It wasnt a moeblob, hence a failure.
Somebody say how the total amount Fractale's DVDs/BDs sold altogether.
Even westerners hated Fractale. Doesn't really help Fractale's case.
You can't "save the anime industry" with nothing but a big fat ego, Yamakan.
Same here. I didnt know that Fractale was a failure.
maybe guys in 2chan didnt like it? they hate everything.
Lets just say it would have worked out better as a film :D
Fractale was a good anime, if its considered a failure its only because it lacked the only two things otaku trash care about, moeblob and fanservice.
As for Yamakan, he's only hated because he had the balls to publicly denounce the God of moeblob, K-On! for the pointles drivel that it is.
Fractale tried to be epic but failed to deliver, and ended up rushed and unsatisfying.
As for moeblob and fanservice- Nessa was an archetypal moeblob, and Phyrne was swimming naked at one point.
It's ridiculous that people tend to call popular shows with moe as Moeblob Trash but somehow ignorantly call any series with almost the same amount of moe elements but just less popular as superior totally-moeblob-free anime.
Awww, how cute, K-On fanboys trying to defend moeblob without even knowing the basic difference between moe and moeblob. Almost all anime and manga have atleast one moe character, moe simply means a cute or otherwise appealing character. Moeblob on the other hand is the style of anime and manga where there is no decernable plot or storyline and the sole reason to watch is to fawn over the cutesy characters.
@conduit
No, "moeblob" refers to a cute character without a complex and developed personality. It doesn't mean an anime with no plot or storyline.
For example, Menma from Ano Hana is essentially a moeblob, but the anime aimed to tell a deep and moving story.
^
In moments like these, we *facepalm.*
You do realize that almost all the posts on this site are about "moe", "fanservice", "loli" and all the posters go on raving for more. Funny how that works.
And it failed because Menma is the fucking worst character ever.
Sheesh, seriously I think almost everyone here has come up with their own definition of "moeblob" as moe shows with no value for having no plot, just because the term first sprouted into frequent usage in anime discussion from popular non-plotty slice of life shows like Lucky Star and K-on.
Definitely, I'm always going to defend K-on whether I'm a fanboy or not. Sure it doesn't have that plot which Beck and Nana had but at least the characters are well depicted as well as how the franchise is worth praising for having enough nuts to let the girls grow up and graduate; something that not even the director of Glee or even Gosho Aoyama would agree to do.
@conduit
Way to fail, dumb ass. Moe does not mean, "a cute or otherwise appealing character".
It refers to the fetish for or sexual attraction to idealized people.
Lrn2vocabulary. n00b
+1, you are mostly right. But i like moeblobs too, if they are entertaining, like just in K-On, or Kannagi. I rather watch them than something with, heavy, complicated plot, which is tedious to follow.
But of course many big plot anime, manga etc. are really captivating too.
"Almost all anime and manga have atleast one moe character, moe simply means a cute or otherwise appealing character."
So true. I liked Gosick. It is like that, with good plot, maybe there was too many moe girls, besides Victorique, like Avril.
Hehehe behead another K-ON figure viral troll.
i hate to burst fanboy bubbles with reality but it needs to be done.
reality check, Fractale is generally considered a failure on the terms you'd consider any product a failure.
it's TV ratings were low. low to the point where one of the noitaminA (Fractale's TV programming block) producer even came out publicly and said that it's rating were well below what they had been expecting for the series.
couple low TV ratings that with HORRIBLE DVD/BR sales and you get FRACTALE = FAILURE by any measure that an industry would care about.
that's not 2ch being 2ch.
that's far more qualitative evidence than any Yamakan fanboys are going to be to spin up to try say Fractale DIDN'T bomb.
and Yamakan was considered overrated far before he talked shit about K-on.
he gets far more credit for Haruhi than he deserves, and nothing he did prior to pre-Haruhi or post-Haruhi was that great.
it would be more accurate to say Yamakan is only loved by his fanboys because of the exaggerated influence the remaining Haruhi fanboys believe he actually had in that series' creative production.
Do not reason with the white man.
The white man doesn't even buy the DVDs. The white man only pirates anime and manga anyways.
What say do they even have on the matter? If it were so good, maybe the white man would spend their $80 on the DVD.
edit since edit function doesn't seem to be working right for me = "quantitative"
I think it's considered a failure because it deviated too much from the original story and characters...
People have different opinions than mine, therefore they must be "otaku trash".
Fractale had low dvd sales because few people liked it, big deal. If you like it so much, go buy the DVDs and support the creators.
Are you seriously criticizing Japanese otakus for liking fanservice and moe anime when 90% of the articles on this site are "2ch Goddess", "Sexy anime", "Loli fanservice anime", "Ishihara wants to ban fanservice anime, fuck you Ishihara"?
Do you not see the hypocrisy? It's like anything 2ch hates, all the sankaku trolls suddenly like and vice versa.
2ch writers IQ is below 0.
Fractale was good!
i'd really like to see ppl having an IQ of 0.
You can look at Artefact, 2ch members, Ishihara, Korean leaders...those people.
You don`t have to take that IQ -0 ranking literally, you get the general idea.
All you need to do is look in the mirror dumbass! Stop trolling
it's called 'coma'.
Anon 05:56, you are 2ch member...or Ishihara? You can`t be one of North Korean leaders, none of them is a genius in English language like you.
I know, you are Artefact!
2ch is a message board in the same way this place has a forum and commenting on articles.
If it was good, why don't you white people go buy some of the DVDs?
Apparently it has not been released in the west, yet.
I am from my part buying much licensed manga and anime plus hentai stuff. I support my favorite artists and companies in Japanese entertaining industry, for, say, 5.000-7.000 USD every year.
I must have been watching a different anime than the people on 2ch.
Fractale is good, it's no SAC or Cowboy
but it's better than a whole bunch of others I could mention.
It had low dvd sales, that's all that matters in the eyes of the companies. It's a commercial failure.
Whether 2ch people or white people liked it doesn't matter. Not enough people liked it enough to buy it.
If the white people like it so much, how come they didn't buy the DVDs and increase it's sales?
The white man only complains but does nothing to solve the problem.
failure as a product or as a show? Japan give very low ratings and reception to great shows/movies like Samurai champloo or The Wings of Honneamise and great ratings to any trash with the flavor of the moment.
Heck, I´m not even a fan of Fractale/yamakan, but I cannot consider it as bad show.
Was it marketed at all in Eagleland?
It wasn't even sold in Western markets.
I really liked Fractale. It wasn't anything groundbreaking(In fact threw in a ton of references to other well respected things.), but it was definitely a good, entertaining show. It's not as if they left it open, but I wouldn't mind another season. Perhaps another story in the same world. Just different characters.
White man wonn't buy it if it's only sold in Japan and limited to Japanese language.
Fractale started strong, but after the "Nessa" episode, it just wandered off into WTF land.
By the end of it, I was going "This made no sense at all."
Low sales = Few people interested in buying.
Few people interested in buying = Few people liked it.
Few people liked it = FAILURE.
If you liked it so much, go buy the DVDs and support Yamakan.
Could it be that people only over hyped haruhi into something it wasn't....?!?!
Nah....couldn't be!!
fuck haruhi sucks can't understand why people like it.
First season was awesome, second, downright awful. The novels are really nice; I specifically like the writing style though.
Endless 8 should've been compressed down to 2 or 3 episodes. Having to watch the same story with subtle changes for 8 episodes is what pissed everybody off.
I've already preorderd "The Disappearance" Bluray which comes out in the US on Sept 20th. Haven't seen it yet, can't wait.
Light novels are great I even ordered all 11 from Japan.
I need my Haruhi fix!
You don`t understand much else either.
Overhype is endemic in otaku. Still, I thought season 1 was a nice refeshing original sci-fi fantasy. Season 2 was a really neat IDEA, but a horrible waste of good talent, and it turned me off from the rest of the series.
This is pretty much confirmation she won't be leaving us anytime soooooon.
Expect the Aya articles to keep on coming. Now also coming with some Yamakan.
The fact that he directed a few episodes of a few popular Anime titles like Air,Kannagi,Lucky Star I can't really talk shit about him.
Well, he was canned for another director after the first 5 episodes of Lucky Star.
...interestingly enough, he made a cameo appearance in Kannagi, talking to the viewers about how he wanted to become a better director if I am not mistaken.
In fact even Konata criticised him...
Need to agree with her after watching the Food Talk Of Boredom in the first episode.
So that explains the first episodes of Lucky Star, terrible... just terrible.
So HE'S the culprit! I nearly gave up on the show because the first episode was so dull.
Ironically, the food talk is in the source material (4koma). Blame Yoshimizu.
