The second day of Comiket 80’s vast array of cosplayers sees even more cosplayers braving the heat, in some at times gratifyingly skimpy costumes – although certain big name ero-cosplayers still seem notable by their absence…

Can someone please translate the text behind the "NEET Police" guy?
It says "Own Home Security Squad - Out of home division" Which is synonym for hikkikomori.

i saw her in person and trust me when i say that was less cute than in the picture...

I laughed when I saw him with his boxes of oranges
A am always confused, how the Japanese can cosplay SS-Manner in public? In Poland (as in whole Europe and North America) these troops have VERY, VERY BAD REPUTATION. I understand, that in Japan SS is known more or less like Kempeitai in Poland, but still...
Kempeitai was more like MPs controlling the civilians... They don;t go out into battle. However SS does.
SS Jap ;] . I dont think that SS cosplay is something wrong in poland , europe . I just dont care . Simple .
Because they have the cool uniforms ... simple as that
And Japan was allied(I think) with Germany - ergo: they weren't at the receiving end of the Nazi-Regime
Only that the guy isn't wearing a SS uniform, hell I'm not even sure it is any German uniform.
A Godwin point for our friend.
Putting it frankly, it is stylized on an SS battle dress. Look at runic "SS" symbol on his collar. Never mind, perhaps in Japan it is nothing strange to cosplay nazi SS soldiers, at least until it is just a cosplay, without any politics behind.
maybe you don't know but there are many manga, usually BL where nazi uniforms are a common thing...because that the cosplay is intended as a cosplay and not something fearsome or political and usualy are girls ;)
i was more troubled when i saw a bunch of guys dressed as soldiers of different nations and ages...looked veeery fanatic for my taste...
nazi uniforms look badass QQ
That uniform wasn't historically used in Japan, nor was the swastika. In fact, the swastika is a Buddhist symbol used all over Asia. It's been used for thousands of years. And yet after WW2, Jews scream at it.
The Nazi swastika & the Buddist swastika differ in orientation by about 45 degrees I've heard.
They differ in which way the arms are pointing.
Before the nazis got their hands on it both orientations were used, though 'left-facing' (卍) seems to be more common. Nazi's used the 'right-facing' version (卐).
The Japanese culture considers itself a warrior culture. So they idolize warriors. They can't openly idolize their own modern day warriors after the events of World War II as their forces have been villanized and emasculated into a self-defence force. So warriors of other cultures as well as warriors from past ages of Japan are idolized & idealized instead.
So, why must they worship warriors that lost and not those, who won? Moreover, in Japanese history I cannot see any major victory of Japaneses over others, They won only when fight against another Japaneses. I think, that the real strength of Japan does not lie in military power, but somewhere else.
And military cruelty against enemy's civilians, or even enemy's soldiers has nothing in common with humanity.
National ethos built around military power is nothing good, as we could see in history. All nations, that made war and military expansion the reason of their existence and their way of life - are either nonexistent today or just defeated and convinced to paceul existence.
Moreover: honor kept just only in this world is nothing. You won't take your victories, courage and sacrifice to your grave...
Regardless of what we think about the German's reasons & motivations for war during WWII, at the time they were considered the best trained, the best equipped, & the best led. They were considered Goliaths & beating them meant something in and of itself. That impression of them is what makes people idolize or even just admire them in spite of who they fought for or even that they lost in the end.
The Japanese still would like for their warriors to be considered as capable as others in the world regardless of how little an impact they've made on the world stage throughout history. Being considered one to be reckoned with by friend & foe alike is considered as much a mark of manhood as how well you can handle a woman or how much strong drink you can guzzle down. That's what the idolizing cosplay is about: feeling like a man by portraying that which you think is manly.
N.E.E.T Squad!
Awesomeness abound.
Love how the RPG dude is aiming point blank at the ground in pic 122
Shhhh
Hes playing team fortress 2.
Shhhh... NEET squad are on the roll.
still dont think cosplaying as SS is cool...
Maybe he wanted to be Herr Major from Hellsing. Still, I agree, not such a good idea.
I think it's cool :3 + SS uniforms looks real nice :D It just too bad that ALOT of people get bad impression because it represents NAZI :\ It happened so long ago I don't think it really matters :3
People will assume you're with the Nazi just because you wear their clothes. You don't wear the clothes that you don't support. Kinda like Prince Harry getting the heat when he wore a Nazi outfit for Halloween.
I think chinese wouldnt find it cool if westeners cosplay the japanese army in ww2 but in your respective region it doesnt matter much.
That's only because you believe the lies perpetrated by your Jewish overlords.
I don't care what anybody thinks, I respect the Germans that had the guts to fight a war against almost every single country on the planet.
I don't care what anybody thinks, I can't respect the Germans that had the retarded idea to fight a war against almost every single country on the planet.
