Japan’s ever increasing population of doll fanciers are once again busy spreading their fancy by the simple expedient of posting photographs of them online and telling others they can have one for as little as $500.

They're probably all custom. I'll admit there is something vaguely beautiful about these dolls, but I think I'll hold out for proper Virtual/Augmented Reality rigs and virtual waifu.

Probably a hell of a lot easier to hide as well. Win-Win!
They are basically custom made by people who found the right pieces to make it look like the characters we like. There is a company open in the USA that makes the dolls in Japan with a little searching you should have no problem finding them. Its the 2,000 to 5,000 dollars (that was 3 years ago) to buy a fully built one you might have a problem with.
This dolls however do look like the ones owned by danny choo, you guys can check out his site and you'll see what I mean
and Rozen made 7 of them....
I just love the Suiseiseki dolls in pic# 35 & 36. I'd love to have her and all the Rozen Maiden Dolls.
I think a lot of the guys here are under the impression these are full size dolls. They're not,so unless your hung like Pinnochio (little wooden dicks) they're not going to do you any good. Sorry to burst your bubbles.
I don't believe they anatomically correct anyway, unless they've been custom made.
They're beautiful collectables and definite dust collectors unless you glass case them. Not as easy as anime figures.
I have a few bride dolls of similar size that I inherited so I know.
I ask as an ignorant: What is the draw of these dolls?
I can understand it in the case of hand crafted dolls, since there is a skill developed by the maker and hours of work that make each one unique, but these are largely mass produced. Maybe you can make one with pieces and customize it, which CAN be nice, but other than that, I'm still left wondering about what the big deal it is.
Note: I'm not trying to bash on the hobby.
I guess it's a matter of individual taste, so there is no definitive answer.I like them because they're pretty.
They are about 2 to 2.5 feet tall so they take up a lot of room. If you have a small place they're not easy to display.
They tend to get dusty if you don't put them in display cases which are also expensive $200-$350 for a 2.5 tall glass case and they weigh a ton!
Since I was her only granddaughter, my grandmother left me her bride dolls when she passed and they are of similar quality and size as the ones shown except the faces and hands are bisque china. I'd love to have all the Rozen Maiden Dolls as collectables but I'd have to rent another apartment just to display them not to mention the cost of the dolls, clothing and display cases! Probably get a new Lexus cheaper than that!
I think I'll just stick with my anime figures for now. Hope I answered your question. :)

I personally collect them to shell characters I have created. It is a little more worldly acceptable for me to do so though without getting people calling what I do creepy (I'm female and under 20. And an art student.)
I use them as drawing references and an outlet to practice fashion design and such with.

They look creepy and scary to me. The only exception is the miku one, because the clothes hide that ugly ball joints,
....er....you can actually see more of her joints than a lot of the dolls here.
I bought one of those to my daughter. She loved, and her friends all want to know where i bought such a well done doll.
Now i see i'm not alone, all those fathers must love their daughters to buy such an expensive doll.
But i don't get why some are wearing recent casual clothes, aren't they supposed to imitate in a better ways those old dolls with dress??
