Eccentric idol Shoko Nakagawa’s notorious antics have once again been turning heads – this time with an extraordinarily grotesque choice of insectile fashion accessory which leaves even the likes of Lady Gaga in the dust.
Her reputation as a guro fiend seems well deserved.
For those wondering just what her lovely new accessories are, she identifies them as cast-off cicada husks (the skins immature cicadas shed when they become adults) – the arrival of Japan’s ubiquitous and extraordinarily noisy summer cicada invasion has been late this year, which seems to have excited her.

Ok. That is fairly unique. A little gross though.
So unique and gross you had to type it twice.
Shit, I feel sick, at first I thought they were plastic fakes, knowin they are real insects makes me wanna puke ¬_¬
they are insects shells, just the hardened carapace it shed when it was time to fly.
Ok, dry insect shells, disgusting anyway ¬_¬
She's a member of Aburame clan, a ninja clan from Konoha that uses insect as a weapon.
oh my god! she's gonna use them to make a new dildo for every woman out there!
Not seeing how this is very different from ancient Egyptian fashion.
i think this is pretty interesting. not too bad, actually~
Well, it's a matter of perspective, after all silk is made from insects cocoons yet they are extremely expensive and I think biologically there isn't much of a difference.
Interesting its being a long time since i last seen those insect shells....
must be when i was a kid
Cicada shells don't scare me at all. I remember picking up shells and even playing with live Cicadas in early childhood. Nobody ever bats an eye. It's only 'scary' when those things tries to fly away and flies into your face or something.
Cicadas are kind of like ladybugs. Totally harmless and I never get the feeling they're the kind of vicious insects like ants, termites or something disease ridden like roaches.
If she is trying to create a new trend, and the trend becomes a success, I'm going to shoot her. I ain't wanting girls in school wearing insects. Creaming nail arts were enough. |:V
wow i cant believe i was eating while watching this without losing my appetite XD
dude, I can't even eating while browsing sancom
Last time the came out en mass, my friends and I gathered a bunch of them up in a giant plastic bin. We came back with another load to toss in and found one of my dogs with his head in the bin nomming on the cicadas.
Even though there weren't as many the years after that, he'd still eat any that he managed to find.
You know what that means? The cicadas make for good eating! Let's roast some and find out!
Only when the cicadas cry...Higurashi no naku koro ni...
Now we know why cicadas cry...
I used to do this to my little sister all the time when I was a kid. :)
that's pretty cool in a queen of blades kinda way.
Shokotan is the Mushi-queen???
Seems like something is bugging her...
Revival of the beehive-hairstlye?
Or maybe a cicada-hairstyle
Higurashi no kami koro ni?
Kami = hair.
...Higurashi - When they hair? Sorry but no. That's not funny. That's not even a sentence.
If we take the original sentence Higurashi no naku koro ni, then koro ni roughly translates to "at the time of" or "when" and Higurashi is a type of Cicada.
So, if you would like, it could be translated to "at the time of cicada hair" thus rending my joke a little more comprehensible XD.
But then again, "when they cry" is a pretty inferior translation because it doesn't tell you what's in the original title.
I saw what you did there...
It looks like.
*Puts on sunglasses*
She's being bugged.
YEEEAAAAH-shot-
-_-' ....
I remember them from Evangelion. They could always be heard in the outdoor scenes.
Guess she wanted revenge...
I like Shokotan, but I've got a bit of a entemophobia so I can't say I approve. Bugs, especially big ones like that, creepy me right the hell out.
Can't blame me for hitting her head.
I swear I saw bugs on her hair.
I still didn't throw up after I saw this.
eew, i'd happily smear shit all over my face or wear a dead baby in the name of high anti fashion but insects are over the line, i hope they're fake.
Not fake. And they're just cast off shells. Think of it as a cocoon that the butterfly has already left behind.
anything associated with bugs is itchy and disgusting
gaga got it right by covering herself in dead animal insides, dead insect shells are gross
no they arn't live or dead, but none the less is disgusting, i am starting to
dislike japanese trends.
That is so much win.
A girl who isn't deathly afraid of bugs, I like that.
I'd prefer a happy medium between being afraid of bugs and wearing them as hair accessories...
Not feminine and not cool.
Cool big bugs. She's still cute. Everyone wins one way or another.
Someone, squash her, please.
Not feminine enough, needs more bugs!
she's wanna go to hinamizawa so much, doesn't she...
Glad someone else noticed the connection. I don't feel alone now.
I love this o.o so so so much.
Cicadas are one of my favorite bugs. I leave my window open so I can listen to them at night, but this is a bit much.
It's no more disgusting than a sea shell, and they do hold surprisingly well, but there's got to be a better way to turn these things into a fashion accessory.
The first pictures are cool, but the last ones where it's all over her head.... not so much.
DA FUCK?DA FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK? fuck that i'm otta here!
