Summer at the Beach, China Style

China’s beautiful beaches have once again turned a vivid shade of green – not that this seems to have put off beach-goers.
The algal bloom has resulted in a gigantic blanket of algae hundreds of kilometres long smothering much of China’s Yellow Sea coast, the third such mega-bloom in the last 5 years.
The same region suffered a similar bloom in 2008 – much to the embarrassment of Chinese authorities, as it nearly ruined the marine elements of the 2008 Olympics:
The algae itself is not generally considered directly dangerous to humans (though whether the same can be said for Chinese beaches is quite another matter), but does have a devastating effect on other marine life.
Whilst a natural phenomenon which regularly affects seas the world over, the increasing frequency and severity of the blooms is widely considered to be tied to vast quantities of fertilisers, sewage and industrial effluent China dumps into its surrounding seas.

Just do it. ✔
Oh yes I'll be shopping these.
omg i was just thnkin tht tooz :P
Coming soon to an exported food item near you...
You know they could make diesel fuel from that stuff as well but that actually would make sense.
It actually wouldn't because the actual amount needed to perform that task is quite hefty. Also if they produced more it would kill off a bunch of sea life and cause bigger genetic issue generations of sea life later. Not to mention for a fraction of the cost you can make fuel from wheat...
Maybe you should have did some research before making that post because you just made yourself look like an idiot.
All you said was a bunch of random ass crap.
Genetic issues WTF did you flunk science class?
BTW wheat is not used for biofuel it's corn and that's no where near the best plant for the job switch grass produces 4 times the ethanol corn does.
i actually would cost more energy then you'd gain if you tried to make biofuel from wheat.
Corn which has a much higher carbohydrate content has problems achieving a 1.5 ratio.
On biodiesel Hemp produces more oil per acre then soy, canola or safflower.
Algae is one of the best producers of bio fuels.

Yes they do... but do you all know corn and wheat can be used for better purpose than fuel? Algae grows a hundred times faster than any plants... Algae has higher energy than any other living plants too (of equal weight), and produces less emission and waste when used. Hence algae research is now under-going in many countries especially countries with tropical climate blooms algae faster. :)

Wow... Does anyone on here even care about what is the best material for making biofuel?
It's china, they'll use it to make bridges and pillows.
Algae as biofuel is more effective, than wheat. However it takes more effort and money to sustain and get optimal results. Which an investor would be looking for something easy and guaranteed.
Due to the environment you would need to grow algae at mass quantities makes it impractical over other methods of other biofuels using Cellulose
Russia is making fuel from wheat. Not much and it's experimental, but they do.

I wouldn't say a 100 x's faster but pretty fast. Though I do believe many company's are going to stick with other sources like woods, wheats, and grass. Due to the abundance and the amount of fuel we can make using recycle'd waste. Seeing how..sadly America could produce thousands of gallons if its recycle of greens(woods, grass, ect)was better

Lol ok retard if you look at the post in context, I was talking about taking natural algae which is in such high quanity at part, because of the chemicals they dump into the water..Ecology= if a animal eats off the substance, it would then spread the contents, also causing genetic issue's later in life..seeing how China is known to dump nail polish remover in its waters. Oh and btw corn takes more energy to break down than simple wheat. which is why they are experimenting with it in certain countries..part of the GO GREEN project. Go the back to school you youngn'
So... Is China finally going green?
No. This is just the result of going brown.
In this case, dumping sewage directly into the ocean is a quick fix to getting rid of it, but has the consequence of explosive kelp growth... and swimming in shit.
Interesting note that China is doing significantly more things to be 'green' than the US is.
EPIC China fail
Nature really hates the asian countries
First Japan
Then China
Whats next? Korea!!?!?!...North or south?
Nature's way o-FUCK YOU
Equally sad, the Americas have their fair share of natural disasters too :(
Nice boobs on the girl in the blue bikini!
Fertilizers.
She swam in the sea after all.
Let it there it will EXPLODE at any time.
Nice indeed.
I wonder if some people will tout the "medical benefits" of the algae, though.
Yes agreed she is really beautiful.
Nice indeed.
delicious ones
Guy in the last picture looks like he's going to audition for a remake of "Swamp Thing".
Just has to put some on his head.
Looks like a good setting for Tentacle Attack Porn
They're not swimming, they're being eaten, coming soon to a theater near you in horizontal slit vision.
Kinda looks like a weird version of Cthulhu.
It is pure win, save for that condescending mien. Almost like he was saying: your next buyer won't care whether you can swim or not, they want you to have been on the council.
The guy in the last pic seems to have failed to stay in hiding, even though he increased his camo index ._.
No, wait! A China quality ghillie suit?! Let's just hope this stuff doesn't explode.
the girl above the sniper looks tough. ._.
she have roberta's eyes.

I'm reminded of the episode in Malcom in the Middle when Hal went into the pool that had algae growing it it to prove a point, only to find his whole lower body went red.
Looks like a soccer field!
wait til they sell these algae as food than u know
...Wow. I'm saving a few of these in my "holy shit" folder.
