Alongside the best anime of 2011 summer come the worst and most disappointing titles, with some quite dire disappointments on display alongside the merely divisive titles bound to be hated by as many people as they are loved by.
1. The IdolMaster
2. Uta no Prince-sama
3. Ro-Kyu-Bu!
4. R-15
5. Baka to Test II
6. Natsume Yuujinchou
7. Manyuu Hikenchou
8. Mayochiki!
9. Blood C
10. Twin Angel Kyun Kyun
11. Kami-sama no Memo-chou
12. Itsuka Tenma no Kuro Usagi
13. Mawaru Penguin Drum
14. Kami-sama Dolls
15. YuruYuri
Whether IdolMaster actually deserves this dubious distinction or is in fact the victim of its impossible-to-please maniacal fanbase remains uncertain – disc sales will likely prove the only reasonable arbiter of its success.

Interesting, Baka to test is both the 5th worst and the 5th best...

Interesting how some are both "the best" and "most disappointing" at the same time...
what do you expect? this is Sankakucomplex, not your trusty news site, not Foxnews, not BBC, etc
these thing has no credibility or whatsoever, he doesn't cite the source, no author, no date, no nothing. These are just for fun and fill the empty space on this blog
but i have to agree with number 1
I love baka to test 2 and mayo chiki tho
The link's right there in the article though...
Did you not click the link above the list? That is the source you wanted.
LOL, FAIL
This may seem that they are both the best and disappointing at the same time.
Or maybe they shouldn't make ranking of 20/15 animés when there is less than 23 anime taht came out this summer. Maybe...

2. Uta no Prince-sama

Just means that Uta no Prince-sama is a really good show, but still disappointing because it could be so much more.
Corrected.

Top 20 Most Disappointing Anime of Summer 2011 So Far (for Moe-blob-lovin' Otaku)
2. Uta no Prince-sama
itsuka should be higher...
Why? I didn't have high hopes for it, but I think it's one of the best of the season so far. Maybe because I didn't read the LN?
himea loses relevance. Fast.
Wow this list looks so familiar, like I just saw it in another article that was called the best of summer 2011 so far.
Yes, that is sarcasm.
Some of these haven finish their season yet, there some that are still on the 2 or 3 episode. Otaku these days are impatient as Hell
You don't know what "so far" means, do you?
Obviously not. I am sure Anon 5:40 is not alone in his ignorance.
If it wasn't for that boy band reject Jupiter, IdolM@ster would not have been on the list, or at least not have ranked #1. Or maybe this list is just retarded too.
what's more amazing is that ultra censored (manyuu) and strongly censored(R-15) aren't higher on the list.
and Sacred Seven not on this >>>TOP 15<<< at all.
R-15 really should have been #1, the PV made it look a little interesting and a lot less retarded.
SAcred Seven pretty much ROCK
It is completely retarded that one or more other male entities have to make an entire series that used be filled with girls only completely stupid and "disappointing".
Go watch Uta no Prince-sama if you don't understand, fujoshi. I'm sure you'll like it for it has 99% boys.
Erm... I'm a guy.
A straight one.
The top 20 list here has only 15 entries...
compare this to the best of the season list, and you will know the relianility of the rankings.
What the frak, it's the same 20 shows.
Anyway I think Kamisama Dolls and Penguindrum will be good but everything else is too damn cliche or censored.
penguin whatever is by the same director of revolutionary girl utena so it should be good
they didn't liked anythig right?
no.... they just don't like producer-san u_u
I'd have to agree about IdolMaster, I've not followed it at all and only realy know it is popular so when viewing it i was expecting something at least watchable and it just wasn't, it was inane enough to drop after the first episode, another person on another forum loved it though purely for the moe...i didn't think it was particularly moe and certainly not anywhere near moe enough just to watch solely for that purpose
Idolmaster disappointing? Hmph, it's better than K-ON!
Anything is better than K-ON!
It's not better. It may be made for the same audience, but nothing in IdolMaster has been able to capture my heart or my laughs as K-ON! did right from the start.
The girls are all painfully cliche, and this is coming from someone who watches and enjoys moeblob shows. I realize that it's only 2 episodes in, and that there's still time to give the characters more than their surface-personalities show, but I fear that there are simply too many characters to give anyone enough time to separate from their stereotype.
Perhaps it was made strictly for the IdolMaster fans. I like IdolMaster enough, but mostly for the performances, which just don't look as good outside of their 3D environment.
I think you're right on that one. The series definitely was made for people who already were big fans of the game, and to possibly peak non-fans into wanting to know more about whoever and buying the game for more. That way characters don't need to much background time.
iM@S fans will not disagree with your assessment, but we are patient and hopeful that the girls will get enough small group or solo screen time to show their back story and highlight character developments; you can't really discuss serious topics like Chihaya's family background with too many characters on screen. If we're just looking at the superficial personality and character settings alone, then the iM@S girls do not stand out from any other show/game with a cast of girls. Their advantage comes from the sheer amount of interaction scenes that show the player how each girl grows step-by-step along her career and overcomes whatever trial/difficulty she faces.
I don't get how Ro-Kyu-Bu! can be "disappointing", it is not like they could have expected much from it... at all. As for Blood-C, people in the forums I have read were expecting a sequel of Blood+ and hate CLAMP's standard design.
as much as i wanted a Blood+ sequel I knew it wouldnt be, knowing this even as a different series it is disappointing, they seemed to have thrown in several moe like characters and it just doesnt feel right, it should be more serious.
I like how this is a list of almost all worth-naming anime this season.
i like idolm@ster, what is that makes it so bad?
I think the PoV in ep1 killed it for a lot of people. I waited for a friend's evaluation of ep2 before I watched it because it was so annoying.
ya same here, i liked it too XD
Maybe it's because those crazy fans expected so much. I've only saw the idolmaster game like a few months ago and then i watched the anime shortly after. Maybe like it's "different" in a bad way for the diehard fans
here we go again...
WTF none of these shows have more than 3 episodes yet how the hell can you determine its worth seeing as how some shows can run 52 episodes if ratings and budget are fine
Alot of these anime are in the best anime of summer 2011 as well doesn't make sense this list and its just a complete waste of the creator of the list and our time
Aren't half of these listed on the best of 2011 Summer list?
I'm really surprised by all the hating on Blood-C. People knew right away it wasn't going to be a standard Blood story.
This is probably going to be one of the least memorable seasons for me. Not a whole lot that stands out. It doesn't help that other than Baka Test, Mayo and IdolM I wasn't too familiar with the material.
But even so, it remains a relatively stale line-up. Memo is good but has yet to really kick in for me. We'll see.
i liked baka to test so far O_o
Man these Idolmaster fans sure are fickle.
When Idolmaster got given a sci-fi treatment in Xenoglossia, the fans were generally up in arms in protest at how they've "butchered" the idol-making premise that made the games successful.
Now that A-1 Pictures is finally making a faithful game adaptation of the idol-making, they're still complaining.
Just what do they fucking want anyway? It's not like the anime is starring the much hated Jupiter group (albeit having a brief cameo last week).
I love how non-fans like Artefact and yourself can speak for the rest of the fans. Most of the haters slamming the show are outsiders. The general consensus amongst iM@S fans is that we do enjoy the anime adaptation, but the below average picture quality leaves a lot to be desired. The slow start and the character introductions we can understand, but we aren't blind, you know?
It's because of that Jupiter guy
You mean that dick who appeared for less than a few minutes, it's not like he's a part of the main cast, plus he's an antagonistic role, you're supposed to dislike him, not throw a tantrum and call the show ruined.
But he like totally ruined the show. Just look at him, you know what he's done.
IdolM@ster was already ruined when Jupiter was introduced.
If you really hate them that much than you shouldn't let them ruin a good show for you.
Everyone of you are gay for even playing Idol master
They probably hate that now they made an actual character out of Producer-san, meaning they can't imagine themselves in his position anymore. Apparantly they have crappy imaginations.
Oh yeah, and the Jupiter guy made an appearance. Even though I don't think his total screen-time was even ten fucking SECONDS.
