As a "creepy Idolm@ster fan" I was more surprised to see Touma being so.. not a jerkass, almost made me question the series. But as a fan I kept plugging away and ended up with a sore forehead thanks to Iori, Ami, Mami and Yayoi.
Well Touma is not THAT much of an ass really...he is just like Hibiki,he believes ALL the lies Kuroi tells him,so he acts like a jerk because your idols are "cheaters" (it's very funny when he knows that Kuroi is the cheater actually).
What an asshole! So what if it was Haruka who bumped into him, he didn't even care that a lady fell on the floor right in front of him, the moron!

And well, not having played IM@S 2 (or the first one, but I'm waiting for my copy of SP Perfect Sun to arrive) I don't really mind seeing a bit of Jupiter to mix/balance things out, unless, of course, they steal the show.

Nishigori said in an interview that Jupiter would be the primary antagonists of the series. Before the first episode even aired. Fans have known about their inevitable appearance for ages.

I wonder why exactly A1 Pictures have included Jupiter into this Anime.
Bringing them in just makes everyone unhappy. It will make Fujoshi unhappy unless they are given a lot of screen time, and if they are given a lot of screen time then the male Otaku fanbase is unhappy. It really is just a poor decision all around. Besides, A1 also put out Uta-no Prince-sama at the same time. Why not just leave that to the Fujoshi and let the Otaku have iDOLM@STER?

Because they are part of canon and are an integral part of The iDOLM@STER 2 whether the fanbase likes it or not. Saying "everyone" is too broad. As I didn't mind it. I am actually looking forward to knowing more about Jupiter since I never got a chance to play IM@S 2. Touma was only on screen for less than a minute. Every girl will get their chance to shine, so I really don't see the problem.
Leaving them out would be borderline adaptation decay. I would like for the anime to explore ALL elements of the games. Not just whatever is convenient for otaku. It'll still sell anyway, as the game itself proved that.
Now all they need to do is have the Dearly Stars make an appearance, and I'll be a happy camper. :D
Whether they are part of the canon or no, they were a very poorly recieved part of the iDOLM@STER games. And let's be perfectly honest here, this Anime, and the games as well, are catered more or less purely to Otaku. Intentionally pissing off your fanbase is never a good thing. Do it more than once and there could be dire consequences.
You could say things like "It's their work, not yours, so you have no say it the matter". The reality is that we the consumer have a lot to say. You do something your fanbase doesn't like, and you might lose their cash flow. Then what? "Doing your own thing" doesn't matter much when you got no money.
I honestly thought A1 was smarter than this. But I guess I was wrong.

It would make sense that there would be boy idols too, and makes even more sense that they're your rivals in the actual game canon. Of course they're going to show up in the anime.
