Anime fans asked which anime they have trouble understanding the popularity of seem mystified by the huge popularity enjoyed by several recent blockbusters.
1. Ano Hi Mita Hana
2. K-ON!
3. Puella Magi Madoka Magica
4. Hetalia
5. A Channel
6. Steins;gate
7. All of the To Aru series
8. Hanasaku Iroha
9. Tiger & Bunny
10. All NicoNico anime
11. Gintama
12. The IdolMaster
13. Toradora!
14. Bakemonogatari
15. One Piece
A surprisingly broad cross-section of recent anime seems to be evidence, confounding those who might expect to see the list packed with vapid moeblob and pantsu anime – although the divisiveness of K-ON! is by now hardly surprising.

These people have never watched an anime if they don't understand.
^ This
People get false preconceptions about certain animes based on the 30 seconds they decided to watch.
I really can't fault any of the animes listed here.
Hey, I watched the first few episodes of K-ON hoping to finally understand it's popularity. I must be daft since I still haven't got it. I'm assuming it's just not my type of anime, but I watched more than 30 seconds, thank you.
Yeah, that happened to me for Tiger & Bunny but I went back and gave it another shot and it was pretty decent =D
@Anon 23:26
My brother loves K-ON, watches it frequently. While I've only watched the first three episodes, I've watch pretty well all the rest while he was watching it. So in a sense I have tried watching it again, and there is still nothing I like about it. To me it seems the type of anime lonely men watch.
You can't see any fault in K-ON? Seriously?
I agree agree..
They dont have a wide range of Genre Knowledge or they just simply dont try to watch those so they dont know.. Idiots
They quit within' 5 mins!
I watched at least 10 episodes from every season of To Aru and still couldn't get into it. What am I doing wrong? In it's core it's just a shonen with bland male characters (which kills any shonen) and trying-too-hard moe female characters. It kinda fails both as a shonen and as a moe-anime for me.
There's that universal law of visual novel > light novel > manga > anime. In the case of to aru majutusu, the light novel is much better than the anime. You should read it, and not watch the anime.
It WOULD be much better, except japanese -> english translations of any novel/light novel suck.
Ok, except Guin Saga, but that one doesn't count as in japanese it's the equivalent of cheesy purple prose.
And you go tell the translators over at baka BT that. They'd laught you in the face and tell you to look at their visit-count.
I know I do.
@04:36
To Aru's novels may be a step up from the anime, but that's not saying much. Twilight is also popular. Popular doesn't mean good or bad, just popular. Laughing at someone for not being part of the popularity circlejerk isn't something to be proud of.
Mmmmhh... I liked Railgun, but I cant stand the Index protagonist. The Annoying Spiked Haired guy with the Hax powers. Somebody, for Gods sake, just shoot him.
''the words off my keyboard...
Hell yeah.
or to them anime=naruto
rather anime to them= pokemon, dragon ball z
dragon ball z/pokemon >>> naruto FACT
Hands of Naruto, Sasuke is awesome.
If you like emo faggotry or you are 14yo
another sasuke fan -.-... pff these fangirls
Maybe Naruto is almost = to Harry Potter.
what? another list?
*goes back to fapping previous post*
Exactly.
It's weird how some animes appear in every list in this site.
Art trying for headlines as usual ;)
Because Steins;gate is actually good.
agreed...
lol, on the whole list i agree with one piece... such a dumb show...
Most people that say that One Piece is dumb have never actually watched the series... or they watched the 4kids dub.
You're not supposed to watch One Piece, you're supposed to read the manga... It'll make you cry how sad it can be. D:
But yea the manga is way better than the anime.
There is actually some depth in the manga unlike the "targeted at kids" anime.
I watched about 100 episodes of it, until that other chick joined the team. If 100 episodes isn't enough to decide something is crap, fuck off.
Read the one piece manga, it was stupid.
Anyone who says 'fuck off' when trying to defend their view that something is bad has their own problems. Not the show's problems.
You need a 12th level intellect to understand the anime on the list
I watched like 5 or 6 eps because of the insane popularity and I can of figured that a show that has over 500 eps to date should be doing something right.
Nope I didn't see it, maybe I chose the wrong eps but I can tell you I liked bleach and naruto better
Most people that like One Piece just can't accept that there are people that don't like One Piece.
They always resort to petty insults or say that people haven't watched/read enough of it to form an actual opinion on it.
I don't need to watch 250 episodes or read 300 chapters of it to know I'm not interested in it. If it doesn't grab my attention in the first few episodes/chapters, I'm not going to bother spending ~100 hours on it.

Sonovabitch
It's so cooooool!
Because haters gotta hate.
I was hoping someone uploaded that, many thanks.
Dr Pepper, Gel-bana!
Now say "Pepper my banana" but faster :D
DON'T SAY THAT!
What if someone actually peppers your banana!!
Perhaps its too complex for them to understand.
We're talking about people who'd rather watch/play eroge titles for the simplicity and the "plot".
And you probably have never actually read the plot in some eroges. Some of them have a pretty deep plot
F/SN the VN vs F/SN the anime, the VN actually blows the anime out of the water with its storytelling.
You don't just get an idiot hero, but you get to find out why he does the things he does, and more often than not, there is a certain logic to it. Which was completely lacking in the anime.
>Eroges
>Deep plot
So "plot" is the euphemism they're using now?

Clannad was originally an eroge.
>>Clannad was originally an eroge.
And the only reason it's famous is because it killed a angelic character. I guess that's as much depth as we'll get in an eroge, but come on.
Say that 'eroge can't be deep in plot' and tell that to me with a straight face after playing Yume Miru Kusuri and especially Kana Little Sister.
Eroge downright created the notion that games should be emotionally engaging. People who write it off as a genre has no idea what they are talking about.
Clannad is an eroge?Talking like a genius, deep down you just don't know anything. You don't even know the difference of an all age visual novel and eroge.
