They might not have made the ad, but they more than likely sent Toyota America a memo saying "This is Miku, she's popular, use her in an ad." Without any context about who or what she is. You can't really blame some old guys for fucking it up when they don't understand the character in the first place.
I really don't know how in the world they thought talking about Bacon wrapped hotdogs (which sounds disgusting by the way) for an entire 25 seconds of a 28 second ad would promote car sales though.

Those commercials are horrible. Even without Miku they would be crap but with her its even more crap. Her model looks ugly and did you check her fingers, super long.
